A low/no carb question

I have never done low carbs before and have realised i should drop a few fat pounds as the old summer is drawing upon us.

i am torn between a very low carb i.e. small amount pre/post workout or the anabolic diet but with maybe just 1 re load of fairly clean carbs with the odd cheat thrown in.

Kingpeon and mountaindog very kindly gave me some advice saying they love this diet.

king stated that you should not use coconut fat as it messes with fat burning as its sole use is energy.

could you not have a spoon of coconut fat pre workout to use as energy source or would that throw the fat use out the window.

i still would like the diet to feel clean i.e. not just an excuse to shovel bacon and stuff down my throat.

what does everyone do and what would be a good approach.

goals are to harden up drop a bit but try to maintain as much mass as possible. oh yeah all whilst natural and if i could actually add 20lb then even better

thats not to much to ask is it??

Well

I love higher fat diets......but you can use a balance full time which I am more comfortable with then doing refeeds every week............too mch yo-yo-ing for me......but it all works.....yes, I would choose healthier " refeed" meals........bacon and fries are not warranted.......use common sense............but some saturated fat is needed. I think coconut oil is a GREAT pre workout energy supply, especially with LBAs........I used to do a pre workout drink or heavy cream, LBAs and olive oil......my buddy at OHSU had me on the no carb diet during the week and refeeds on weekends but this pre workout drink before training.....raised GH levels during training naturally.......but not sure how much when I was using it exogenously also.

With higher fat diets, wouldn't you tend to be getting in more calories per day? Thus leading to fat gain.

Ive been following a lower carb and higher fat diet recently and I've noticed that my hunger is at a point it's never been. Following your advice, eat when hungry, hasn't been a problem. I am always hungry. But how do I know if I should eat a bowl of salad or 1 cup of almonds? The calorie difference is huge. Will I get fat if I'm eating when hungry, is it still possible to be taking in too many calories?

Pupeye- I don't think your fat intake is high enough and/or carbs are low enough. You arent at the point yet when the fat is making you feel full/satisfied (not bloated full). How much fat and carb gms a day are you ingesting?

balance IMO. get a macro ratio that allows you to build muscle and lose bodyfat at same time. i would never completely eliminate a macro nutrient (like carbs) but use it wisely instead.
or i would do whatever phil tells you lol. hire him you cant go wrong.
