Abcess from water based aas?

Is it possible to get an abcess from a water based aas like winstrol?

I think I may have injected a little too shallow into my glute and I have had a small lump for the last 2 days. It doesn't "hurt" - it's just a bit uncomfortable. It's not hot to the touch, red, or overly swollen. I went ahead and stuck a 21g 1.5" in there earlier tonight and just got a tad bit of blood out barely enough to fill up the plastic part on the needle (it didn't even reach the syringe) - and nothing yellow or smelly, and no puss.

I put a heating pad on it today for a little while, and I'm taking some ibuprofen to hopefully take down the inflammation.

So I'm assuming it's possible to get an abcess from a water based aas - what is my next move?

thanks.

Okay so I just got back from the doctor. Told her it was a b12 injection gone awry. She (dermatologist) examined the area, which is still sore, and has gotten a little red in the area. She basically commented that the area was inflammed and irritated, and recommended heat, massage, and OTC anti-inflammatory for the next few days. Watch it closely and it should go away on its own within a week. If not, I'll go back in.

I was thinking of posting a pic, but I'm sure you all don't want to see my ass unless the condition worsens...lol

yes I got one from Test suspension....I threw that trash away...damn brovel....now I got a little dent in my butt

I forgot to add the details

got big and hot , kinda usual with brovel products...then I really couldnt sit anymore and noticed a clear spot on the site...so I went look into the mirror and saw something in there...so I squeezed and blood filled the clear spot ...so I let it be till the next afternoon after I took a very hot bath...went back to the mirror and saw it again so I took my needle stuck it in just to break the skin moved the skin around to make a little hole kinda like minor surgury and instead of squeezing it I spreaded it open and it hurt but I could feel it comming ,bleeding like hell I spreaded it again and then finally I squeezed the shit out of it and a big green thing shot out of there and hit the wall ..I held a sanitized rag on it for a bit then took a gauze with some iodine on it and put that bad boy on my butt....pain but ever so greatfull that it was out and gone...2 days later everything was gone....

Thanks for the details Spanky. I'm hoping my problem doesn't escalate to that level, but if it does, I'll keep your story in mind. I'm using LSP winstrol - it's a pretty good brand from what I've read. I think the whole thing started because of a bad injection on my part...

The quick answer to your question is yes you can get an abcess from any injection. Too many factors can cause this. The most common is lack of proper injection hygiene protocols. The other is just dirty gear. Make sure you know where your shit comes from and always be extra careful when handling darts and vials. Wipe the vial top every time before you poke it and never reuse the needle to draw up.

Yeah, I'm pretty good about using fresh needles. I figure they're cheap enough that I can use a fresh one everytime for drawing and injecting, even when doing ED shots.

Update: the abcess is a little warm to the touch now, and slightly red. It hasn't gotten any larger. I hope it goes away on its own... I'm still using the heating pad every few hours, massaging it, and taking 800mg of ibuprofen every few hours.

Anyone have any other tips for self-treatment?

water based drugs are particularly prone to bacteria... especially with multi-dose vials

i always blew these minor irritations away with DMSO, heat, and asprin / Cipro

Thanks again.

I'm really going to be cognizant of using alcohol prep pads on my vials and injection sites, in addition to using fresh needles each time.

I've taken more ibuprofen and used the heating pad a couple of more times, and each time I use the heating pad and massage the area afterwards, it feels great. I have a friend who is giving me a few Keflex tabs too, so I might take those to ward off any other issue with potential infection...

UPDATE:

Okay, the area was improving a bit earlier today, and now it seems like it's gone back to a little more swelled up. It's a little redder than it was right this second, although I just got off the heating pad, so that might be the cause of that.

Here's where I need a little help: I decided once again to try and get some of whatever is swelling up in my glute out. And for the second time, I used a 21g needle, and basically got a single drop of blood out. No yellow. No puss. No smelly liquid. Nothing. What gives? Is it possible that it's not an abcess, but instead, just some really heavily irritated muscle tissue? Anyone who has treated their own abcess or knows about these things, post up some replies on this if you could...thanks.

Abcess

You are going to cause an infection if you keep sticking the place. There will be be HEAT, swollen and irritated to the touch and red. You will not mistake it. Keep the heat on it and let it go away. An abcess will come on within 24 hours, at this time if you have colloidal silver use it as directed on this site. If you dont get antibiotics and hope it goes away. Otherwisd Dr will have to drain. Its been my experience to get the abcess in subcutanous area and I have never lost tissue. Dont wait aroung but dont irritate it.

Thanks for the input.

I believe it's in a subcutaneous area based on the fact that I believe it was initially caused by too shallow of an inject.

I'm starting Keflex tomorrow so that should help. I'll continue the heating pad. I'll stop sticking it with the needle (it's tough to not want to "solve" the problem myself!!). I'll look into the colloidal silver.

What size needle did you initially use when you injected the winny? If you used a 1.5" needle in your glute, then i would say its highly unlikely it was a sub q injection. Did you keep the needle fairly still while injecting also? Movin the needle around during injection can cause some muscle trauma sometimes. Doesn't sound too bad to me. That was an everyday thing when i used to use injectables from the ol' chinaman.

Plenty to be said about this for sure. I dont know about other stores or pharmacies but the pharmacy at my Costco carries BD Alchohol Swabs. You get 4 boxes of 100 swabs each to a pak. More than enough NOT to be overly "swabby". Hit everything good, the vial, the skin.

Also in my yrs of experience damn near all waterbase injectables in the last few yrs have become very risky as far as infections go. I know I'm not the only one that has this issue. Swap T/Susp for another fast acting test such as prop. And unless your dead set on Winny, opt out for similar compounds.

Yeah it was the winny that was the culprit. And I made the mistake of using a 1" needle on a glute shot. I didn't think it was that big a deal and was basically just being lazy not switching it out to a 1.5" needle.

The winstrol is LSP, which I know is good gear, but I have heard many folks talk about water based products becoming less and less pure as of late. I think I remember someone saying that it's more difficult to produce a sterile water-based injectable when compared to an oil.

Update:

I started Keflex today and am still using the heating pad here and there.

The redness and hotness of the area has decreased significantly, however I noticed something strange tonight: it seems like the swollen area has hardened or something. It's now a very defined shape, and firmer than it was before.

Is this a stage on the way to full recovery? Or is something going wrong now that it has "hardened" and I'm going to have to get this thing cut out or something? I'm a little freaked out about it.

thanks for your replies.

Why did you start the Keflex?

Do you actually have an infection?

Sounds more like an irratation caused by a shallow injection into fatty tissue.

I've got something going on with my bicep for the same amount of time as you and I am just treating it as an inflamation and not jusmping the gun on thinking it is an infection. Stuff like this goes away within a week.

I don't know if I was really hurting swollen

and inflamed I would start the antibiotic as well. You are seeing some clearing which is good. It can be a sterile abcess and it can be cellulitis caused by over loading a site with oil. Rotate sites because after 3-400 sticks you are going to have so much scar tissue that these things tend to become more regular. You can have a dormant infection at one site that suddenly flares and seeds the opposite muscle. Its an art not a science but the more you rotate the better off and more comfortable you will be in my opinion.

This statement was right on. I did the Keflex for 1 day and then stopped it as the irritation, redness, and size of the lump began to decrease. It's even better today - I think it should be gone in the next couple of days.

I'm pretty good at rotating sites (glute, delts, quads), but this has me freaked out enough that I'm considering just drinking the rest of my winstrol for the next 4 weeks...

Thanks again for all the comments and support fellas.
