absolute latest time to diet down????

ok so im not preparing for a competition (im not big enough yet)....but i am preparing for spring break! :)

right now im still trying to put on some good size before then...but i was wondering when the absolute latest time is that i can diet down to shred up? spring break is April 7-14.....and i was hoping to get really cut up for the beach.

right now ive virtually cut out my cardio and planned on adding it on top of my normal workout routine to try and cut some BF and water whenever i start to diet down.

my only concern is losing too much muscle and looking too skinny. any advice? ive considered upping my protein intake now and cutting my carbs down to 100-200g a day....in hopes of losing some BF and still gaining some muscle. is this a good idea?

my diet now is ~300g of protein a day...and i really dont watch my carbs too much because of my fast metabolism. im not as cut as i want to be...so i figured id cut my carbs and get ready for SPRING BREAK!!!
 
Hahaha spring break diet! Your one of THOSE guys? LMAO! Hey why dont you just eat whatever you want and ration it like Marshall says... your bound to be huge and ripped LOL. No seriously, you gave us no info here. No pix. No stats. No age. Supplements/juice? No nothing..... give us something to work with
 
i would start now, your not going to build an appreciable amount of muscle from now till april...id start now so your not stressed and you can get as shredded as you want...worst case scenario your ready early and you can lean gain...just my 2 cents though

Are you sure you are 10%BF? Have you been tested. I suggest you go get a BF test if you have not. At 178lbs and 6'0 tall you should be fairly ripped already. Thats a lighter weight for that height. At 10% you should just worry about adding some lean mass and you are fine. I would not worry about LOSING weight, I would worry about GAINING weight since you mention you have a fast metabolisim.

If you diet down anymore you will be like 6'0...160lbs and that is bonerack my friend. GOODLUCK on GAINING some mass. :D

agreed bro!

a pic would be a little better to acess your physique (just make sure you dont post a link to your website with a pic, and make sure you have not won any shows! j/k its a little inside joke) plus we could better tell you what to work on to improve you physique. it is pretty hard to acess a physique with just stats... it would be like trying to judge a bbing show on paper.

chances are puttin on any muscle from now till spring break while cuttin, are pretty slim...

no one here will bash you, bros are pretty positive here....

right now i train 4x a week to try and put on size. i take creatine (which works) and use a PWO shake with 60g protein and 90g carbs. no juice.

Ok at 10%bf you should clearly see your abs, not sharp but see them. At 6' 178 you are prolly a bit on the skinny side. What do you want to do, get bigger with more lean mass, or stay skinny? Forget the spring break diet and jump on the food and heavy training. You say you want to compete? Then start training and eating like you want to. You are growing NOW, take advantage of this and forget the spring break shit! Yes go out and try your luck, But unless you are a walking jelly roll forget the diet now. Keep doing your cardio and increase your protein carbs and fat intake. Eat six times a day and train as if it was the last time you'll ever get to train. I am 6' tall and was so at your age. When I played High school ball I weighed in over 200lbs. Thats 23lbs heavier than you. Got it. I never had any probs w/ladies since I was big and strong. I have a sying that is so true "WEIGHTS BEFORE DATES". Now go eat!!

I share the same opinion. My suggestion would be to try synthepure whey , because will feed your muscles like nothing else. Do not overdue cardio, as you are allready on 10% bf . You could loose a lot of muscle together with fat . Concentrate more on to diet. I think 300g of prot.per day will be good for building more muscle

Hey SV, don't sweat it. Put up the pics. This is not like the other boards. We are here to help you. We all started off somewhere. If you listen to the bros here they will set it right. You just need to distinguish between good info and not so good info. Listen to some of the older more experienced guys here. We're not here to flame you. Just follow the good advice given and you will earn the respect of others here. Right now focus your efforts on eating a good solid diet and Good hard training. That's quality training not quantity. Stick to the big basic compound movements like Deads, squats, benches and chins. Yes do some arm work but don't obsess about them. They will grow. Stay away from aas for now. Let your body develope. IT WILL!

Don't be so hard on yourself. You're on the right track. You have nothing to diet down for right now as you are naturally pretty lean. A few of the fellas on here know that I graduated HS at 143 5'7", and by the time I was 19-20 I was over 200 and a little over 6 ft tall. I now could hold a natural body weight of 278-280 if I didn't watch my diet. Some people grow late. The thing I liked seeing was that you are not doing any gear at this time to speed up the process. This would fuse your bones and stop you from growing if you were going to grow any more skeletal wise. Do not limit this thought by height, as other things come into play. Men get wider in the hip/waist area at an early age and their clavicle grows width wise later. Therefor, even if you were at the height you are going to be at, you might have fused your clavicle so that you could never achieve a wide shoulder in comparison to your waist. In my opinion you are a nice respectful kid. Keep it that way, trust in yourself and don't take anything anyone dishes out to heart. Worry about your performance on the field right now and how it pertains to your future. You will grow into your shoes, I promise, just get the agility down the best you can while you are waiting. Keep your head up kid. And final, stay off the gear for another couple of years.

im not gonna lie to you guys....ive considered AAS. i planned on doing a cycle...but the constant "NO!"s i got from guys on this board kept me from doing it. i plan on hiring Phil to train me as soon as i get the money (i got in a little accident so now im BROKE :( )

and Kaiser...thanks for the explanation on why not to use AAS. no one ever explained it to me before...they just said it stunts your growth.

and now some powerlifter guy wants me to train me....but he has no clue what he's doing. he told me that i cant get lean and big without AAS....and i said bullshit. hes not intense and i feel like i dont get good workouts...but i have no one else to train with...and hes kinda clingy :eek:

idk its just been tough. my football coach told me to give up and that theres no way ill make my goal of over 200 at 6% BF. that really hurt :(

even though i dont personally know u guys....its good to finally have some people behind me telling me i can do it. its just rough when everyone laughs and questions you...says you cant do it....tells you it wont work. idk i havent been blessed with good genetics by any means and have had to work so hard for everything ive done with my body....i just get frustrated with the guys who say its not all necessary because they have good genetics.

i know it probably sounds like im just bitchin about everything and you're probably all thinking i need to just suck it up....but i had to get it all off my chest. plus...i dont know you guys..think what you want :p

It's cool, hahaha, you don't know me either. But the first step to getting bigger is a positive attitude, not just towards training, but nutrition, advice, life in general. You can get plenty big without aas. You really should'nt consider them for some years yet. Along with epiphseal closure (bones stop growing) come the posibility of altering your endocrine system for life. You are too young to consider this in your training now. Do not listen to the negative people around you. They will drag you down along with them. They lack knowledge and experience and have no real understanding of what it takes to grow and train balls to the walls. It's a good thing you can read and type. Get used to it cause there's plenty of both coming your way. Getting big and strong starts with the educated mind and then the physical training then the eating then the resting, yadayadayada. Now go and eat!!
