Dehydrated and not able to keep fluids down

The last 3-4 days I’ve not been able to keep fluids down. Piss is so dark I can’t see the bottom of the bowl and have all the typical symptoms of dehydration.

The solution is a course of IV fluids.

I’m asking for recommendations and remedies to try and turn this around on my own at home.

head to urgent care IMO

sounds like AKI and rhabdo
Agreed. And it will probably come to that point.

I know you guys dehydrate for contests and it gets bad but you avoid IV fluids if you can to not wash out. Maybe someone can walk me through that a little.

Don’t fuck around. Go to the doc. Keep us posted.

You’re not prepping for a show so don’t risk that. We chug water and electrolytes along with coconut water if we get in a pinch.

But you're past that IMO. My first stop the day after my show is an IV.

Find an IV clinic or urgent care that can do one (many don't so you may need the ER) and don't mess around with trying to chug coconut water.

Second all this. Don’t fuck around. You will find out. Go to the ED and get some fluids.

I was just gonna mention that idk whether or not urgent care has the ability to IV or not

Most don’t and just punt you to the ER. He needs to go straight to the ER as they’ll run blood work as well and have it back stat.

I'd skip any IV clinics at this stage and just plan my night for the ER. Sometimes its necessary.

Yeah…. Changing my vote to ER

Look at how many guys get fucked up w diuretics leading up to show day, and that’s when they KNOW what’s wrong

Don’t fuck around @Samson250 , would suck to check out due to inaction

I’ll be the first to say hell yeah the ER is annoying and a pain in the ass, just go and get it over with

At this point best case is acute kidney injury I would imagine, fluid overnight recheck labs. If this has been several days, possible rhabdo? Either way the ED is the move.

@Samson250 this is coming from someone who works in the ED 👆

I'm 💯 with him on this. Kidney damage in addition to dehydration is not something you chance.

I didn’t want to go into this because it derails the thread but I have my answer from you guys now and come to terms with it.

Going in opens a can of worms. I’ll do it but I love you guys and tell you why I’ve delayed this.
12 days ago I abruptly stopped taking some pretty serious psychiatric medications. My Dr. Is aware and on call for me, not happy but letting me walk this path however temporary. I know this is related to that. I didn’t just wake up that day and randomly quit. It’s part of a plan. My plan.

There’s a very strong likelihood if I go in the doctors will take matters out of my hands and involuntarily commit me. I’ve been committed before and I fear it. Man Im really scared. I’m already part of a loony bin called PM lol.

Anyway, that’s the why.

Thank you. It means a lot you replied.

It takes a lot to share that and no judgment here.

I can’t tell you what to do or how to handle it, but if you go in for dehydration and kidney issues and don’t mention anything about your situation or meds then they likely won’t ask.

Their job at the ER (supposed to be) is to stabilize you so that you can go or do whatever is needed with your primary care. The ER isn’t designed to hold patients, it’s to designed to stabilize them and get them out.

Keep it to the problem and you should be in and out.

@Neuro1234 may have more input than me, but I’ve dealt with similar situations with my parents and it was “don’t ask don’t tell”.

Don’t give them a reason to put a psych hold on you and they won’t.

Just take care of your health man as you get one body.

I’m icu/ED, and I’m happy to throw my .02 in anytime. The majority of things I see that could have been avoided are people who kept thinking “it might get better” especially when it’s something as simple as dehydration to fix.

I will warn you, they will probably draw a lactic acid level and it will be high. It will be related to your dehydration, but it will kick off possible sepsis alert… it’s annoying but it’s a guardrail to keep things from slipping through… but that’s going to keep you there awhile. Just buckle up. Be nice to the nurses and they will be nice to you. 😂

I agree with this. If it’s part of a plan, you’ve come up with you doc… they don’t need to know. You need to get the problem stabilized and move on with the plan. This is just a new step in the plan.

If they keep pressing, tell them it’s part of the plan. Give them your docs number and tell them to call him if it seems like it’s getting fishy.

@Samson250 also no judgement here my man. I support anyone who is trying to prioritize themselves and their complete health (mental and physical)
