The title pretty much says it. Do you have to "bulk up" as in gain fat to also add lean mass? I see guys gain large amounts of weight and of course look soft and flabby and then have to cut to look lean again. Is it possible to gain that net lean mass without gaining all the fat? I ask because i am 5'5" and 175lbs and about ~10% BF. I would love to be 185 and just as lean. I eat clean 90% of the time. In order for me to gain that 10lbs of lean mass is it mandatory to take in so much calorie that i have to end up at 200lb and have to cut back to 185? I hope my question makes sense. I am just worried about eating everything under the sun to gain "weight" and just end up flabby and soft instead of just slowly gaining lean mass without having to "bulk" up.
