Any experiences with carpal tunnel syndrom?

I've come down with CTS and was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with it. I had the cortisone shot but it didn't do anything for it. I'm taking an anti-inflammatory but I can't see where that is doing anything either. My orthopedic doctor said that I'd most likely need to get the surgery for it,which doesn't bother me. I was just wondering if it would come back after that or if I'd experience any weakness with that hand afterward.
Any input would be appreciated.

i've been fighting it for a couple of years now fingers constantly falling asleep tingling, waking you up in the middle of the night you know all of the finer points. As far as the surgery... as an ironworker i personally won't have the surgery yet because it will just return in a few years so im told. I've heard mixed reviews on the surgery one guy i work with just had one hand done about a month ago and has had great luck he's going to have the other done in a couple more weeks. He said the healing really wasn't that painful...but as far as strength rehab he would be the wrong guy to ask.

Thanks,I also work in a factory so I use my hands constantly.Right now it doesn't bug me too much.It's just irritating.I'm thinking about the surgery but don't want to lose any use,or have limitations, of my hand.
