I think the swine flu is somthing that is hpyed up by the goverments and the media to draw attention from other issues such as the "ecconomic crisis" ect. What happend to the bird flu? Does anyone still have it or did just mirraculasly dissapear off the face of the earth?

the bird flu is still around

Of course it's still around it was always around, birds have the flu, pigs have the flu, ever since they excisted but imo these pandemics got exagerated by the media so they can save some of the pharmectical companys from the crisis and other reasons too.

swine flu is quite a serious threat. Unlike any of the other flu strains that have come about, this one causes the body to kill itself. It is such a serious infection that the body literally becomes toxic to itself killing the most healthy of people.

The media, whether driven by government parties or not, steers everyone towards the negative. Negative or shock news is what makes people tune in like it or not. News is no longer news, i wouldn't believe anything i see or hear on the news without some serious research first.

The vaccine seems to be all that news outlets are reporting the most horrific symptoms on and scaring everyone. The fact is, the symptoms that are being reported as "swine flu vaccine" are also symptoms of the regular flu vaccine given to millions every year. You don't hear about those because it doesn't make good news.

The existing vaccine hit the market so quickly because the strain of swine flu was added to an existing approved flu vaccine. There really isn't much data to support it working long term at this time.

i got it a couple of weeks ago, they gave me tamiflu and 4 days later i was back in the gym......just like any other flu imho!!!!!!!!!

This is interesting.

Are you serious or is this a joke. I had the h1n1 and
brother it came close to killing me. 8 straight days and nights 103
temperature and getting worst followed by viral pneumoia. It took three
f...in weeks to even feel up to getting out of bed. This flu has killed
people. And no it's not some stupid consperiousy.

Swine flu in fact isn't as deadly as you claim it to be. People over exaggerate how terrible it is. Notice how the people who died from it are the ones that are old(weak immune system), young children(weak immune system), or people with predispositioned conditions in which the swine flu made their condition worsen. Swine flu is bad because it is very contagious and many people are spreading it, not because of the severity(lack of) it's symptoms. As for the vaccine, it is not readily available to anyone. Priority goes to the pregnant women and small children. Your going to have one hell of a time finding the swine flu shot because the supply right now just isn't up to par with the demand.

Agreed. I do think its about like any other flu but is a new strain. Viruses are constantly mutating. My wife works at a hospital and seen an adult and 3 children die from respiratory bacterial complications from H1N1. One seemingly healthy child was gone in a matter of days. Another took weeks and then lost her fight. She did have a weak immune system. ANY strain of the flu virus should be taken seriously. People have a tendency to call every little bug they catch the "flu". Not so. I do think that when the real pandemic comes, there will be very little warning.

Interesting. Your the first person, from what I've heard and seen so far, who are experienced such a severity in symptoms from h1n1. Everyone(all healthy adults) who I've seen or heard who have gotten it, recovered from it within a week. Now the regular flu is quite deadly and has killed people in the past. I honestly believe that the regular flu is deadlier than h1n1.

I've had 4 of my customers come down with the flu and yes within a week
back to work. Now I've had the flu zillions of times too but not like this one.
Could be like you said beings it's a new strain that I've never had before.

deaths

swine flu itself probably won't kill you. it's the pneumonia caused by the h1n1 flu that is responsible for the deaths. some of the pneumonias are outright vicious and despite intensive treatment can't be overcome. STEVO47 is one lucky man to have gotten over the pneumonia without landing in the icu on a ventilator. not everyone who gets swine flu will get pneumonia but if you do keep a watchful eye on it and don't hesitate to go to the er if respiratory symptoms worsen.

Just a month ago a healthy young Johns Hopkins student contracted h1n1 and died. had no medical problems or a history of anything prior. I'm not wishing
it on you but if you ever get it and confirmed by a med doc come back and
talk to me. I will say this, some cases of people claiming to have it could be
mistaken it for the reg flu it's self.....

Your absolutely right. That was what kepted my tem. so high and for so
long. Suppose to be a severe viral pneumonia that this stuff causes and
extremely hard to treat.

Yeah and so has the "normal flu", I remember 3 years ago I thought I was gonna die, it was the most horrible and scariest feeling. It was a serious flu. I was in hospital with the drips and everything, the only difference between my one and yours is that yours has a new name to it.

Ok, Wolf you just said it right there. Swine is also considered a very serious
flu nothing more. But can cause a severe viral pneumonia which is hard to
treat. Not like your typical everyday flu.

overhyped yes

Here in Japan is it severely overhyped...the only folks that have died were folks whose immune systems were already compromised.
On the base up north I have heard of no cases and those folks travel like crazy...why...cuz they all got the flu shot early...the REGULAR flu shot. Japanese folks are getting it left and right and why....they take vaccines very late. any kind.
normal vaccines that the average child in america gets completed by 4 years old are finished until around 12 years in japan. these folks are begging to get sick.
schools have shut down to reduce the issues and these folks have alcohol sprays in the entrance of every door for spraying the hands. PLUS they are all wearing masks!
normal healthy folks bounce back from this within a week...even Japanese kids.

You are right about pneumonia. When I was in the hospital(ICU) waiting on my new liver, I contracted it. Imagine getting that shit in the hospital. My temp was 102 and it took 2 weeks for me to get over it. The nurses had to put those ice blankets on me or else I could've possibly had seizures. As for people who get pneumonia while having h1n1, I didn't know that it is a common occurance. Thanks for clearing that up. Yes, healthy adults that contract swine flu only, in most cases, make speedy recoveries.

Swing flu is a joke. A bunch of guys at work got it. I got a little sick that week so I think I caught it but I always have a strong immune system... Didn't really get sick, just low energy for a couple days. Of the 4 people I know what got it only one even needed Tammiflu. Everybody else got over it in a couple days just like a normal flu.
Its all just hype. The media loves having something to worry us about.

And so are you. Did you get tested, go to the hospital and had a Doctor
diagnose you having it brother. You know what's funny not one here
who thinks it's all bull shit has confirmed ever having it. Oh I'm pretty
sure I had it, my buddy had it and so on.
Anyway I'm beating a dead horse here...............
