took the aptitude test and got 95, and got the physical fitness test in 2 weeks



im curious about how deeply they delve into your personal life - as i may have to invest some considerable time in covering my tracks.. ya know, gear-related and such.

From personal experience. They are gonna pull everything social media, past relationships, finances, old jobs ect.

Biggest failure I have seen is when the background guy contacts a ex girlfriend or wife and they throw you under the bus.

However, if it’s not on paper or in record don’t admit to anything.

Look up Doug Williams book on the polygraph if you have to take one and produce a “truthful chart”.

Also, I am sure you are going to apply to numerous agencies or if you have not, start now. Stick to one story from the beginning to end.

One background guy will ask for your file from another agency you applied for and see if you are telling the same story.

A. CDCR is a thankless, shit job. Pay is not great for California. But its reliable…prisons aren’t going anywhere. I’d advise another career path, just my opinion.

B. Background investigators are always a gamble. Some are more thorough than others. If you’ve led a decent life, you’ll be fine. Online, hopefully you’ve kept your steroid use private…or separate from your public image.

C. Keep your story straight. Its okay to admit to things; no one expects perfection.

The background investigator should not want/ask for medical records. Its a privacy issue.

The dept u apply for would likely conduct their own medical evaluation.

What’s this “story” you want them to hear but doesn’t match your history? Sounds fishy. Or you’re overthinking it.

I definitely think you’re overthinking the whole thing. Your existing medical records are private. They cannot be accessed without your consent or with a court order. If your medical records have something you want to hide, simply dont mention it during the physical evaluation.

my PCP has written in his notes on my file that i 'demonstrate grossly abnormal anatomy due to excessive androgen exposure'

also the adenoma surgery that i had last year would be difficult to explain if i am going to claim that ive never used steroids.

i plan on getting a script for TRT so i can be legit and at least try to explain away my 'grossly abnormal' anatomy

If you're looking for a government job with benefits and retirement, I would be a teacher instead of a CO.

If you really want to work in LE, I would try to get into the CHP.

If you just want to make money, get your CDL. Hell, you don't even have to get your CDL actually. You can literally just buy a cargo van and run cargo loads. Drive around in a cargo van listening to podcasts all day. I have a friend doing that and he makes like 2 grand a week

Yeah, if you want a jail job, you need to go to the county level.

And I’ll reiterate my original post: ANY detention job is a thankless, shit job.

If you’re young, find something else. County or state, its garbage. Believe me.

As for the medical shit, don’t worry about it. Its a nonissue.

I used to smoke crystal with a dude when we were 14. I was locked up in high power @ pelican bailey. In 2023 for a PO violation. When I was in intake being xrayed in secondary (they thought I was hooping dope) I heard someone call me by my legal first name, which nobody around SD unless they were business clients referred to me as. I looked up and it was my homey from elementary & high school and he was a CO. He was SO NERVOUS. He probably thought I was going to ask him to bring cellphones and dope in. He looked like he seen a ghost (that is my nickname on the streets so pun intended). I was handcuffed to a wall in secondary on a bench for like 16 hours losing circulation with the handcuff tourniquet. he got me housed immediately when I told him whats up. Didnt expect him to help, we lost touch, and he was a square but smoked crystal with me back then a few times lmao. Also our other childhood friend was a sheriff in North Carolina and I used to tweak with him too (these were Christian school kids too lool). We were freshmen in high school 14. ANYONE can become a cop or CO this demonstrates. Both of them were stupid regarding grades growing up too.
