Just had one the other day. For anyone that is lucky enough to not be cursed by these bastards, I would not even wish them on my worst enemy.

Is there any natural/herbal remedy or preventative method of dealing with these? I know there is some prescriptions but Ive heard mixed reactions.

God even talking about it now is making me cringe.. lol

ive had them since i was 5 years old. blurred vision followed by horrible headache, then vomiting. ive dont the shots in the belly, and taken the pills relpax, both made me feel like i was beat over the shoulders with a board. i would be sore for almost a day after. i began getting them 3 to 4 times a month from 5 till about 32. they have slowed up on me here lately. never found anything that really worked.

I've had them my whole life... At one point, I was experiencing anywhere between 5-15 in a month. I had tried a couple different medications, etc, until I received a prescription for Topamax (which at the time was sort of "experimental" for migraine treatment; it had previously been a seizure medication I believe). Since then, taking 50mg topamax AM/PM, I'm fortunate enough to have 1 or MAYBE 2 migraines per month. It is definitely worth looking into or trying or possibly talking to your doctor about.

Limit your salt intake .

You'd asked about natural/herbal remedies. Magnesium supplements are often suggested by headache specialists. There are a couple of herbal products but can't think of them right now.
Topamax is a good prescription choice for prophylaxis, but usually used to reduce frequency of attacks if you experience more than 1-2 migraines per week.
For the most immediate relief after a migraine begins, the most effective treatment is SQ injectable sumatriptan, including a needle-free option called Sumavel. There is a long list of a drug class called triptans, in tablet form, and they are good if treatment is started early in the attack.

I have learned a lot of the triggers over the years. Bright light, dehydration, etc. Stay hydrated helps and if I feel its a tension headach a hot shower with the shower directed at the back of my nech helps a lot also...... good luck.

magnesium/calcium comb, some extra B's, then I believe feverfew as well.

can your be linked to a trigger?

I used to before I recieved chiropractic care. One of the main resons I became one.

I've just recently become a victim if migraines....it makes being alive quit miserable....I'm actually going to a chiro weds to have some work...aupposedlu he is good with necks as he worked/works with the US Olympic wrestling team....

Anything to look for? Be weary of?

Dude I get the worst Migraines, there so horrible it causes me to get sick to my stomach and vomit. pretty nasty sh#t.
The best way I deall with it is lots of water and lock myself in a room with no distractions, no tv, no phone, no lights for as long as I can, I usually feel better after a couple of hours seeing If u have the luxury of relaxing that long, some days are too busy and and theres no time for relaxing.
I wish u luck Bro!
They suck!

Magnesium has come up in some books Ive read as well. I'll look into these. I have no clue about my triggers actually. It seems very random, but apparently I dont have them NEARLY as bad as some people do on here. I only get one or two migraines every few months since I was 10.. god I cant imagine having them weekly.

Hell man, those are the same I get. See the spots, the headache, then the nausea. Im worried it will interfere with my life or come at a very bad time.

It does encourage me though to know some great people of the past have suffered with migraines as well, and still managed through:

Thomas Jefferson
Julius Caesar
Napoleon
Ulysses S. Grant
Robert E. Lee
Sigmund Freud
Friedrich Nietzsche
Elvis Presley
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Scottie Pippen
Terrell Davis

Bro its the worse. Thank god I dont get them often but when I do, I try to clear my day and hit the dark bedroom. If your someone who has a crazy a$$ life and cant just lock yourself away, you end up in rough shape.

im 25 and i used to get headaches when i was growing up. Recently ive been getting the blurred vision usually later in the day followed my alot of sinus pressure and sensitivity to light and then i just feel like hell and painful. They are horrible.. :(

Have had them all my life and they're horrible. I get about 5-10 per month and they really do jack up your life. People who have never had a migraine will never understand... "Oh it's just a headache", no they are very debilitating. I've tried beta blockers, elavil, and steroids. Nothing has helped me from preventing them. I carry imitrex and maxalt around for when I feel one coming on and that works pretty good to knock them out. I've kept track of them and there is no pattern that they come or certain foods that cause them. They're just going to come whenever and I have to deal with it.

Get them ocassionally to the point that it makes you want to vomit. Take 800mg motrin with some gatorade and use a ice pack behind the neck while laying my head up on a pillow helps me a bit. MM

I'm going to third Topamax as a good drug. Ask your doctor about it. On higher doses though it can affect your short term memory, better than having to hide out all day in a cold dark room. Good Luck.

u forgot my name damn it !

Good luck going natural. I myself have had good success with either 2 Advils and 2 Excedrins at the same time and also Ultram. Ultrams I use when I can't take the others and wait. Two Ultrams and at least I can go to work, makes it so you don't don't seem to care about anything.

I get them and tried alot to rid myself of them to no avail

chiro, bio-feed back, diet changes, workout changes, prozac, imatrex, etc

I gave up and deal with them now :(
