it was classless that he left without telling any players. that is true. but in his defense, he got the raw end of a deal. It seems like the only reason he went there is because of his quarterback development skills, and offensive mind, as everyone saw at louisville. But when Vick went to jail, that entire plan fell through the tube, and he was left with not much. There isnt any defense for him leaving without notice before the end of the season, but I can understand his motives.
Tough to say based on media reports only. But Brooking's comments probably sum it up best. he did not want to be there, so good riddance. College players are a whole lot easier to coach and "order" around, plus they are under your thumb. Pro players are men who are all the best of the best. Much tougher to coach and deal with their demands as well as the politics of pro sports.
I can't remember which coach it was but I remember hearing this one time.
"It's hard to coach athletes in professional sports, really you are more of a guide as a coach."
It very well might be classless to quit in the middle of the season... But think of all the coaches who have been fired halfway through the season? Especially this year?
IMO there is a BIG difference between being fired and quitting. I guess it was just how i was raised. You dont quit.....you finish the job no matter what. Then make your decision after your done.
Well you are right but it seems to me that the owners give up on the coaches, which is the reason coaches get fired... Even if the season is going bad do you think that is fair to the players? Does that make the owners or people who are head of athletic departments a bad person?
I know its sort of off topic but im interested to hear your opinion?
IMO, every coach should finish out the year unless something 'unbecoming' has happened. I do believe that the owners and athletic directors should let them finish it out also. Otherwise, what does this teach the players? Just because everything isn't going well....you should just quit? Thats wrong!
As a player, i would have wanted my coach to finish out the year.
