I am looking for some sort of attachment i can use on a squat bar so i can squat. I have screws in my shoulder that took some of my ROM. I can't get my hand far enough behind my shoulder line to grasp the bar. Has anyone seen any type of attachment that can be added to the bar that can be easily added or removed that will make it into a makeshift safety squat bar? Haven't been able to do regular squats for over 10 years. Thank KS

I'd be very interested in this as well. I'm in the same boat as u. Can't get my arm back there due to shoulder injury. Havnt squatted in a long time.

Looks great James. Does it hold the bar and everything seem secure, solid, sturdy etc? Thanks again.

another option.

Would This Work???

Front Squats and Leg presses can work wonders.

This just gave me an idea. I'm going to buy 2 u-bolt clamps and do some welding to them coming off the bottom flange and make long handles to grab hooking it to my smith machine bar. I'll have this done by the new yr and post a pic.

Squat Bar Attachment

These work great!
I keep them on all the time and just use them when squatting.
Feels like safety bar squats.
I made them, but a local welder could make them for cheap.

Are they clamped on or using a set screw? I want something for my smith machine that i can remove easily. I use the smith for other exercises so no way would i leave them on the bar.

Tom,

Yes. I used 2 set screws-allen head on each.
They can easily be taken off or loosened and be moved so they're outta the way.

If you like to do reverse band squats, they also serve as a place to wrap the band to.

How does one keep the upper back tight when using these implements?

The weight of the bar sits on your upper back in the same way it normally would. The handles just allow for a much more comfortable grip than trying to get your hands in postion to hold the bar, especially with rotator or other delt impingment issues.

I haven't noticed any inability in keeping my upper back tight.

Cheapest way to go is straps, ala Clint Darden:

If you can afford it I would fully advise getting an ssb or a cambered bar.

You could always do dumbell squats.

Some great attachment ideas.

I must admit clint darden is the master of the bodge job training regime. I think he proves that guts and raw mental determination will always beat fancy gyms and a million bits of kit. Check his vids out I've seen him bench 600 on an old shitty weider bench

^^ Clint's a fucking beast who has been through hell and back. He exemplifies everything that I try to be in the gym.

The C-Clamp holds his briefs up, I'm guessing.
