while in the military, I thought the whole BMI and tap measuring thing was so bogus. In a pinch test I was always between 15 and 18% BF, the the tape always put me over 20 and my BMI was always very high as well.
WELL NO DUH! I was on the base powerlifting team. of course I would be heavy for my height.
But now I am reading that BMI does actually count...not for fat but for genral health.
Our bodies have limitation and when you pack on the extra pounds whether it be muscle or fat you in fact shorten your life span. All that stress on your heart to support your mass does matter.
Hearing this, I have decided that being huge does not matter, 200-210 lbs for me would be perfect. for me though, I could get close by losing mostly fat. but some would be due to muscle mass loss cause by excessive aerobic training.
I would rather live a long healthy life personally.
Oh, it seems that some steroids may be able to actually increase life span if used properly. I will try to get more fact and some links for you guys.
