anyone have an experience or opinions on this thing.....

www.bodybugg.com

i was thinking about getting one but before i invest the $400 i want to know what everyone thinks about it.

I know a real high tech gym on the caost that I visited had them. I wondered how acurate they were. I'll be curious if anyone has tried it.

im seriously considering one... i can get it through my gym for like $314... maybe if i get it i will start a journal about it.

Body Bugg

My wife works for 24 hr Fitness and she got one for a real nice discount and let me use it. It works great! You can see how many steps you take at what time of the day, how many calories you burn, and it seems to track pretty accurately. PM if you want more details.

awesome please PM me with any info....

any others have input?

my teachers are actually doing a study on the "body bugg"...They are trying to find if the body bugg is a useful tool for long term weight loss..He said they are pretty accurate to some degree, but it does have its faults...i think he was saying that if runners where wearing it and it was windy, the body bugg would read more calories than you actually burn... there where more things that he said but it was a while back when i had the lecture....i need to find my notes :D

I dont know BB, Im skeptical. I just like to get my bodyfat done via hydrostatic and know my lean and fat mass and go from there.

there junk,

they have a great sale approach and market it very well...

i have one and used it for a few days befor i realized it was crap, i am a 'certified body bug trainer' whatever the hell that means ? i had to for a training postition i was in a year ago..... they are not accurate.

they will wow you with all their new technology but it is little more then a reading of your body temp and how much you move your arm around, they say they measure perspiration but i highly doubt it....

24hr fitness just bought the bodybug company, they have exclusive right to it and im sure they will make a mint off it....

in the training they are all fucked up, it is a simple calorie in calorie out system they use, they dont preach anyhting about health or clean food, they tell you to tell your clients to eat whatever they want as long as it is less calories then they burn that day... i got into it a few times during the seminar with the speaker, he didnt know his face from his ass. and was trying to pass himself off as a nutrition expert...

bottom line, its a money making technique that will soon fade away.....

I agree with what KM said.

I've heard the exact same feedback from a couple of people who purchased it online, and posted feedback on another website i frequent.

It's designed for those who are stationary, and don't understand the calories in/calories out concept.

"If you can't find time to exercise, and hate to diet .. "
"don't want to log your food intake? .."

As Kenny mentioned, it's marketed perfectly.
Makes something that isn't complicated to begin with, sound like it's effortless?

But c'mon --
We know that if you eat too much, and don't move enough, you'll gain weight.

Do you need something strapped to your arm to tell you that?
Probably not.

I have got to agree 100%. For someone that is already active in bodybuilding and exercise this would be a total waste of money even if it were acurate. Like Aqua said, who needs a box strapped to your arm to tell you that you are taking in too many calories compared to how much you expend. All you have to do is look in the mirror and weigh yourself to do that. I can think of a lot better ways to spend $400. Heck, that will buy you more than 2 cases of LBAs!!

... this BodyBugg reminds me of this:

A while back, all the women at my gym were proudly wearing these Special K pedometer's.
And then I found **broken link removed** article, based on the inaccuracy of them!

PS. The BodyBugg requires a requires an ongoing subscription to the Bodybugg web service?! CHAACHING ;)
It's also not MAC compatible!

One Blog review

And the only other information/feedback I could find was semi-positive (besides the fact that it appears to not be user friendly, difficult to manage/add foods/add meals) were from women, 40+ who are looking to lose in the excess of 50-100lbs.

Quoted for the truth.

It's another gimmick/gadget! Like km said, not accurate! As soon as I read "Results not typical, Individual results may vary" in the fine print I know that it is not worth the investment. Stick to weights and cardio. Can't go wrong!

fad/junk

I know a few people who use it, they think they are happy, but haven't lost a pound and they have been using this thing for months.

It's garbage and not worth it.

thanks everyone for your input.. some more then others... some comments I could have done without...

I by NO means wanted to insinuate that I would use this things as a means for planning my meal plan , workouts , etc. Im not that BIG of an idiot and have diet enough times for shows in my life to know the basics!!! I was very skeptical to even spend the money so thought i would get some insight.

I had worked for a corp fitness company that had wanted to run the bodybugg and forced the mangement team to use(purchase) them as a prototype program. So I had a bad taste about the thing even before I had used it, but still found it to be not worth the money or headache of wearing it because it is awkward. I thought that it would help with learning more about my body, but just seamed to be a scam. Good idea with poor technology and wayyyy too pricey for what it is. Basically a glorified heart rate monitor. Sorry fo the last post being short. Had to put in my two cents but didnt have the time to post details.

no worries rob.. ur post was fine... it was others who assumed my knowledge of dieting and nutrition was that of a 1st grader.... but its all good.

...That's just it though.
I know your knowledge isn't at that level.

What were you going to use it for?
Experimental purposes?

did u read what i posted???? was looking into using it as an additional tool possibly and looking for feedback from anyone who might have experience with them.... i never said i would be using it to run my life/diet.
