Can you be a bodybuilder and only lift 3x a week?

I would agree with most that its very possible. Id expect the training sessions to be fairly longer to get more volume. Lately I've been training 4x/wk and getting good results. Ill ocassionally throw in an extra day for arms.

I agree with Q - I have to train more frequently to see progress.. I guess I could maintain like that but full body would probably be hard to do..
BUT - I have a few friends that have trained this way and loved it - just not for me.

1 hr ,twice a week all summer and the cameras keeped rollin !
I did lose an extra 10pds more than normal but that's only due to calories in vs out, lower dosages and a torn hammy.

I grew crazy fast doing one off one on program. I always felt like less I did better I grew but couldn't ever stick to it because I love to train too much.

You could work out once a week and make gains. I only work out 2-3 days a week for anyone short of a professional competitor that is plenty. I used to train 5-6 in college. I am not a "bodybuilder" but pretty damn close. Honestly if your training hard it takes time to recover. I think the guys training 5-6 days a week train like girls.

another question is can you be a bodybuilder if you train 5+ days a week and don't build anything or ever change. 3 days a week should work. i have made very good gains on 4 days a week when i was working and going to school full time back when i was a kid in my 30's.

My fiancé and I were reading the forums and I'd put money on it my girl can hang with any guy... She can push herself to exhaustion... Not just a set, but every exercise... Day in and day... If she feels she cheated a set, she does it again...

Also if you understand how to manipulate set and rep schemes to create different actuation patterns you can train the muscle more frequently.

We train hard, very hard but we cruise after 6 weeks... You can train hard 5-6 days per week as long as you periodization appropriately

yes bro ive read big a growth principles, very good read, but I thought my 3 day full body would be better than the 3 day split routine cause I would hit my bodyparts 3 times a week as to just once a week with growth principles workout ,very confusing but no one said bodybuilding was easy lol, maybe its not the days that count, but the stimulation you get out of the split routines idk

If you are going to hit each muscle 3 times per week, hit it different each time... Example, one day heavy low rep sets(6-10 reps), one day high reps to failure to pump the muscle (metabolic stress) and one day where you crest a lot of muscular damage (I would save this for right before you rest for 2 days

Yates details his three day per week routine that he used up until British Nationals.

if im not mistaken is that the cycling for pennies article ?

Cycling for pennies is Dante's article... From a long time ago

got ya ,I enjoyed that read a lot to, im having trouble finding dc training that you guys are speaking of

It's talked about quite a bit.. Intense muscle is the home of DC... Scott Stevenson (homonunculus on here) is the official DC coach...

i think he does

chest/back/delts

legs/arms

on a mon/wed/fri

pretty much up to nationals

I know several people IRL or NON-IRL that train 3 days a week and got their IFBB pro cards in bodybuilding.

Don't think too much cause you're 100% wrong. I workout 6 days a week and I train hard every single day

I think a big factor in this equation that needs to be considered is whether one is enhanced or not...with me personally I feel like 3x a week while I'm on just isn't enough. I honestly feel like I could train 7 days a week when I'm on. I feel like in order to take advantage of the increased recovery time, a more frequent training schedule is optimal...When I'm off I feel like 3x a week is actually ideal for my body. I need way more time to recover properly and cant do near as much volume... This is just what I feel works for me though, everyone is different.

if you can grow and make progess with 3 time a week do it..
i have tried to do it i was mixing my program up.
it was okay very low volume for every bodypart. but i miss the pump that i would get froma normal 1-2bodypart split

mike liberatore did this he train 3 days a week 2 times a day and he hit every body part 2 a week. plus he would get a lot of rest with doing it this way.

that would be a good way to do it
