hi guys,

before a competition, do you always use a carb deplete (3-4 days) and then a carbs loads (3 days) till saturday ?
 
I have always used the method of deplete for three load for three, deplete for two load for two etc. But to just load for a 24 hrs period leading into a show does not give the body anywhere near enough time to take up the carbs, convert to glycogen and store in the muscle. Also during the final24 hrs most are dropping water which then makes the carb load less effective. Carbs and water, like siamese twins!!!

For me I use the 3 + 3 method. Works every time!

What about the idea that taking in the carbs without water will force your body to use your subcutaneous water to store the glucose?

a shitload works just fine, your not trying to come in full as a house with a shitload, your just trying to get the muscle to push against the skin, and takes some sub. water out, this has a very pronounced effect on your physique IF YOUR LEAN.
 
Agreed, people do not believe what I did before my last show. To fill out at the last minute.

Basically exactly what it says, you eat some real junk food in the 24hr period prior to getting on stage. I use fried rice the night before and on the morning of prejudge..............MARS BARS and scotch! No kidding!


As for the carb load and water question. You need water during the load phase to help push the carbs into the muscle, I guess shuttle would be a better word. Then by cutting water back in the last 24 hrs your body will drop sub q water first, retaining the water and glycogen in the muscle.

Well, we do have people in here where English (and bad English slang) is not there first language. I can see the confusion.

Well to clear things up, eating real shit has no nutritional value and will probably get you sick. If you decide to eat shit for the reasons listed above, make sure you can buy it at the store.
 
Shitload...

Is a carb deplete necessary before a Shitload? If you look good one week out, why not just keep carbs the same then the night before, cut water and start shitloading? would that work??
 
MY EXPERIENCE....

Not everyone reacts well to a shitload. I personally have some sort of allergic reaction it seems or i dunno wtf. I have tried it a million times and not nailed it once. It doesnt work for ME. Be careful, as you dont want to throw away what you have worked so hard for. If you looked at my 1 week out pix last year i needed to do almost NOTHING, yet somehow messed it up. If only i would have introduced a little more carbs, and done everything as normal, maybe lower water intake day of the show.....would have been a totally different story. Be in shape and dont worry about last second miracles!

The best thing for me is to just eat a pizza or something the evening before the show, morning of the competition is just too late for me, I'll get bloated in the abdomen but muscles wont have enough time to utilize glycogen. However I do not drop water anymore, if anything I'm chugging more the day before the show, cutting it out at like 6 or 7 pm and just pissing all night
 
i think the reason the shitload works for some, is the higher fat content.

when most dudes carb load, they are not taking in any fat. this is a big mistake.

some fat consumed at the right time will help with pump, fullness and vascularity. an excess of carbs can overly spike insulin levels and that can lead to water retention.



i discovered that the carb load and diuretics are two things that can get blown way out of proportion. you are either big and in shape, or not. no last second tweaking will remedy a lack of either of these qualities.

same thing goes with excessive pumping up-- the muscle is either there already, or it isn't. in fact, too much of a pump can screw with the separation.

HAHAHAHA it was in a thread here a while ago_One of Phil's dirty tricks I beleive. To get extra dry when ever you would go and have a piss you do this in a cup. Then rinse the cup out and put back exactly the same amount you just pissed with water!!!

It was a joke played on other compeitiors before a show. That's the way it read anyway!

Can you explain to me why scotch. I've seen "Total Rebuild" w/Arnold and he took a shot or two before going on stage but i figured he was just playing to the audience just like in "Pumping Iron".
