Carbs before bed while bulking?

Whats your take on this? I usually always just had olive oil and protien shake for my last meal before bed whether I was bulking or cutting, but do you think adding some carbs(like a bagle with p/b on it) would be more anabolic? Or will the carbs just not be used and store as fat?
 
Eating carbs before bed is a bad idea IMHO before bed time, even if you are bulking. The protein and olive oil is a good thing, it shouldn't raise blood glucose too much. Eating carbs before bed will negatively affect the quality of sleep for most people and may prevent the natural Gh spike during sleep.

never heard about the GH problem :confused:

I don't see any problem in the fact of eating carbs before bed, I do it myself but with low GI carbs mainly and don't have any sleep problems, so do all my clients
in my case if GI is too high then I wake up in the middle of the night with hypoglycemia symptoms

carbs are necessary for bulking , don't be scared to eat some, even if u have them b4 bed

Agreed,

And actually when I carb up before bed the next morning when I work out I have a hell of a lot more energy. Never gotten "fat" off it, and it helped me sleep rather than preventing me from sleeping.
 
Carbs

before bed release serotonin and will actually help you sleep better, if i have only protien before bed it is harder to fall asleep, as far as fat gain that is going to depend on your metabolism, for me I look better and leaner on a lower carb diet but during winter bulking months eat a ton of carbs.
