sometimes i do my cardio at night and dont like having carbs at night. will protein and efa's still take me out of a catabolic state like carbs do? thanx
Fats and fatty acids are not really "digested" in the way most people think they are. They are emulsified (broken down into itty-bitty globules) by bile acids and then are absorbed in the intestines. It dosen't take as long when they are ingested by themselves. EFA's on a spoon vs MCT's = same difference.
The catabolic state is the absolute greatest when you are exercising. Once you are finished you are in the recuperation phase. PWO recuperation is greatest with carbs & protein. If you are following a ketogenic diet, protein & EFA's would work just fine. I prefer fish oil.
Don't forget plenty of water.
