I ran across this doctors site and saw this list.
copied from the page:

Catabolic foods burn up more calories than they supply. Catabolic foods are the opposite of Anabolic foods. For example a medium sized apple (which is catabolic), would provide an average of 85 calories, however your metabolism would require an additional 99 more calories to metabolize it. As a result, you burn calories (and hopefully fat!)

HIGH GRADE CATABOLIC FOODS

FRUIT:
Black/Blueberries
Limes
Pineapple
Cantaloupe
Grapefruit
Oranges
Plums-Damson
Strawberries
Lemons
Raspberries - fresh
Pears-Bartlett
Watermelon

VEGETABLES:
Artichokes
Celery
Parsley leaves
Sweet Potato
Asparagus
Cucumbers
Peppers
Tomato
Broccoli
Eggplant
Radishes
Zucchini
Brussels Sprouts
Leeks - cooked
Spinach
Carrots
Lettuce

LOW GRADE CATABOLIC FOODS

FRUIT:
Apples
Cherries
Honeydew melon
Peaches
Apricots
Grapes
Nectarines
Tangerines

VEGETABLES:
Beans-green
Cauliflower
Endive
Peas
Beans-string
Chives - fresh
Garlic
Pumpkin
Beets
Corn
Onions
Red Cabbage
Cabbage
Dill Pickles
Parsnips
Turnips

SEAFOODS:
Crabs
Lobster-cooked
Trevally
Flounder
Mussels
Clams - cooked
Frogs legs
Shrimps/Prawns
Cod-steaks
Tuna

Any white meat without fat

did we miss something that was edited?

Do you really think if you could only eat those foods for the rest of your life you wouldn't survive? If you could only eat berries, crabs, apples, and corn you would burn more calories than you ate? yeah right.

Eat enough of those foods by themselves and you'll get fat just like everything else. I don't buy it.

I'd really like to see some science on it. I find it to be extremely interesting, and I don't think it sounds totally unreasonable or outrageous.

Obviously if you're on a ketogenic diet or something, eating an apple isn't going to do you any favors, but it's definitely an interesting concept for everyone else trying to stay lean.

They have been saying that nonsense for years. Thats why all these chicks go around eating celery all day. They publish junk like that in newspapers and the public don't use their skulls to think about how this can actually be possible or not.

I know digestion is the most energy consuming activity to the human body. There may be some truth to this.

I agree with you but then again everyone is different so if you eat those catabolic food and might do your body good and maybe me no. Everybody is different but as you said it be interesting to see some science on it. I might look into this and see what I can find.
