Gotta try new balance. Any mall should be loaded with 990s or the classic 574. Imo way more comfortable than Nike without the politics. They also don't have the "sporting goods" look that Nike/adidas have.

A lot of people seem to really like NB but for the most part I'm not into their shoes. There's a few colorways of the 550's I like though. Their clothing on the other hand, I own a lot of NB and I think its really nice looking stuff.

How many of you guys stick to shoes of your childhood?

In the 70s I wanted the red white and blue leather Cortez, but could not afford them. I also liked the Pegasus a lot - could not afford that either.
I did get a pair of Jordans in high school, probably 86. Wore them to my prom.

Now I have a closet(s) full of Cortez, Pegasus, Dunks, and AJ1s.
I have other "vintage" sneakers like the Saucony Jazz .
There are some modern shoes, but mostly older designs.

In the 70s I wanted the red white and blue leather Cortez, but could not afford them. I also liked the Pegasus a lot - could not afford that either.
I did get a pair of Jordans in high school, probably 86. Wore them to my prom.

Now I have a closet(s) full of Cortez, Pegasus, Dunks, and AJ1s.
I have other "vintage" sneakers like the Saucony Jazz .
There are some modern shoes, but mostly older designs.

AJ 13s for me.

It’s rare that I wear them and don’t get a compliment. I’ll always have a pair in rotation.

The hullabaloo combined with my high school sneaker nostalgia reminded me of this CM series.
Started in the late 80s I think - Bud Light "Ladies Night". The same era of Boy George, Dead or Alive, and Duran Duran (secretly liked the latter).

These just look like “dad sneakers” to me

I've seen the gym dad's wear new balance but not the 990s or 574. 574 are more hipster imo. The 550s I can't stand for the same reason Nike and Adidas, they look like basketball shoe, urban. I'm in my 30s and tatted I don't think they fit lol. I think the dad's wear the kohls type new balance and those ugly foam ones, also alot of brooks and those cloud shoes.

I actually vaguely remember this. I just don’t think the 2 are the same or even comparable. What you posted is actually kind of funny.

I’m the same way.

Growing up all my friends had the Jordan 11, Jordan 13, etc and I could never afford them. Now I have a closet full of 11’s and 13’s.

Childhood shoes, also, yep. I was a skater so have some Chucks and Vans. But mostly wear business casual type all white or all black sneakers, or dress shoes nowadays.

NB has made a great comeback in the past 2-3 years (I mean they never really left) but the addition of Teddy Santis as their creative director has changed a lot. They are thoroughly engrained into the streetwear culture now. I see more dudes in nyc rockin NB than Jordans nowadays.
