as many live blue claw crabs ad you want.
OLD BAY
1/2 cup olive oil
(offseason)BEER
dieting for a show? you still gonna need one beer!
first your gonna want to know this is MESSY but delicious.
i do this part outside- take the live crabs my the 2 back fin's and lay them on theyre stomach, use bomething blunt to press down on theyre backs so they cant move. on the back of the shell your going to see a line that seperates the top and bottom shells. take a sturdy knife while holding them down and insert it right there. once the knige is half way into the crab your going to pry the top shell off, this will kill the crab instantly(theyll still move around alittle(watch ur fingers during all this because a 6 inch blue crab can and wil take off a finger tip). take a hose(the one on ur sink will do just fine) and hose out all the crap in the middle of them and peel off the gills.
now get the biggest pot you can find and pour a beer in it, then add some water, you want about 1 1/2 to 2 inches of liquid in the bottom of the pot.
dust al the crabs with old bay and toss them in the pot.
steam them until the leggs and claws are bright red(and for another 10 min after they change color)
whisk the olive oil with alot of old bay(amazing dipping sauce)
get a couple rolls of paper towels, a 6 pack of light beer, grilled corn on the cob, and enjoy your afternoon.
I have cook outs once a week at my house where we go through a good bushell of crabs. so if any of you fellas are ever in the area and want to stop by, im gonna have to catch more crabs you monsters!...lol .... but seriously this is a big weekly event that i have been doing since i moved down here and all are welcome if you are in the area.
