Is DC going to be effective if i can only do it twice per week? I have been using DC for at least 6 months now, and i have had great results. However due to a financial crunch i had to take a second job tuesday thru saturday unloading semis for fed ex. It is going to replace my normal gym time, and after working 12+ hours a day being in the gym at night is not going to happen plus it takes away from my kids. Any body feel free to chime in here as to what you think. Or any other suggestions. As of now i will only be able to train sat sun, and mon. Thanks in advance.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE PERSONAL ISSUES IN THE WAY OF TRAINING,IM NO DC DISCIPLE BY ANY MEANS BUT I DO KNOW DC TRAINING ISNT 3 DAYS A WEEK YOU CAN TRAIN THOSE 3 DAYS BUT WITH MAXIMUM RESULTS I DOUBT IT BESIDES THAT WHEN DO YOU FIND THE TIME TO EAT DC STYLE?
 
to be successful in the 2 way split, you will need three days per week to train with one day rest in between and 2 days after the third training day. if you are not going to be able to follow the schedule, look elsewhere for a training program, maybe some modified 5x5 or something, its not the right time for you to start DC..

Thanks for the input guys. If you had read my post you would know i have been avidly doing the dc program for a number of months. I know how dc works, wasn't asking how it works. Why is it if some one asks a valid question, and anywhere therein it pertains to dc a flaming commences? As far as training, yes i have had to sacrafice my traing mon thru saturday 6 days a week to better my position in life for my self and my family. So now i only have saturday sunday, and monday to train in the gym. Not that unloading 7 semis in 4 hour period loaded with boxes ranging from 5 to 150 pounds is not a workout. I was simply asking if anyone had an opinion on me doing workout a sat workout b monday, then the next week the same thing. Or if anybody had any other suggestions for a good routine that i could look into.

You realize 3 days in a row correct? So just a three day split high volume to hold on to what i acheived? I got it. I was just looking for some honest feed back. And the job isn't so bad. More cardio that anything, at least to me. :D Well at least i will lose some of this body fat. Hopefully not to much muscle. :mad:
 
Many people have had to work their training around jobs and family and have done it successfully. You're just going to have to get creative. Don't worry about cardio because loading trucks is a bitch. Adjust your training load to take that into account and you will be fine.

no ones flaming you at all. if you have been training DC then you should already know that it REQUIRES three days a week on the two way split. you should also know that you take one day of rest between each workout and two days rest every third workout. anything else is NOT DC. if your new training days are going to be sat sun and mon, you should drop DC and pickup a new program, there is no way that you will be able to handle DC workouts with no recovery time between workout days...
 
As you know, DC is essentially a three day/week routine. In your case, just do one workout sat and the other mon then take the week off to handle work, personal, etc and then repeat. You'll get fewer workouts in per month/year than you would normally, but you'll still get some results as long as you're eating correctly and supplementing.
 
Increase intensity

I think you'll be fine on 2x a week. Though purists would say that you're "not really training DC" blah blah blah. A suggestion I could make would be to use some of the intensity techniques like rest pausing (if you're not already doing these of course), static holds, and negatives. Since you'll only be training twice per week, you'll have a lot of time to recover. Might as well take advantage of the added recovery and really crank it while you're in the gym. Something to consider anyway. I commend you for doing what's best for you and your family. :)
 
Family first brother. Here's an idea.....stick to the basics 2x per week. superset and dropset for intensity.


Saturday
Day 1
bench press
dumbell press
dips

shoulder press
side laterals

preacher curls

Monday
Day2.
squat
leg press
hamstrings

rows
lat pulldown
one arm rows

tricep presses

You can always invest in some home gym equipment, that way you can spend more time with your family.

the way I look at it is you train the way your life permits...sometimes its not a perfect world and you have to switch things up. Do what your able to with such a hectic work schedule.
