Didn't work out for 4 days and arms grew 1/4 inch

Arnold you to say there is no such thing as overtraining, just under eating and under sleeping!

In other words, you need good nutrition and proper rest.:cool:

Well that's another way to look at it, I do eat well and I get proper rest, I guess that's how I've been able to make pretty good gains even while overtraining. And of course the AAS help a lot. :D
 
I think its like carb loading... Just holding water. For each gram of carbohydrates you take in, you retain 2.5 grams of water.

I remember in college, after a long weekend of 12 beers a day and 10 slices of pizza a day I would look huge, even my face was bloated. I should mention that I haven't done this for 10 or so years.
 
I went to Texas for 4 days and didn't work out at all, and ate pretty crappy. When I got home I measured my arms and to my surprise they were 1/4 inch bigger than when I left. What would explain that?

HAPPENS to me almost every time i take a break from a long stretch of training. It's simple your recovered and grew;):D
 
Ironfreak, I overtrain too and I know it and do it anyway. I've been training every single day for 3 years now (except when I get sick, which is rarely) and sometimes twice a day. I just can't seem to stay out of the gym. I NEED to go, for stress relief and to maintain my mental health. I guess that might be hard for a lot of people to understand. I know I'd be making better gains if I cut down to 5 days a week. So I'm gonna see if I can do that.

Imagine if you took 3 days off. You'd probably gain 25 pounds of lean mass. :D
 
When I started training I hooked up with a guy that trained 3 hours stright 5 days every week. Well one day he got banned from the gym for a week for not paying his membership. He started to argue with the manager, so the manager said 2 weeks. I have never seen anyone put on that much muscle in two weeks. Overtraining IMO
 
Agreed.

I was gonna post, but didn't want to start a good ole flaming of my back side. I think the rest allowed him to grow as well. I have been training hard for years. Well this last week i took the whole week off. I adjusted my diet for my level of activity, and only ate when i was hungry. I lost retained water(less sodium i think), but also my body grew pretty substantially. Definetly noticeable improvement with a tape. So i think it was growth.

That's amazing. I was definitely overtrained. I'm glad I posted this thread, I'm starting to realize just how important it is to take some days off.
