Heres a thing....Seen kidney specialist today for the 1st time as a result of protein being found in my urine in a routine Doctors visit. High urea and creatinine had also been found but i expected that from a high protein diet.
Straight away i was asked about creatine use and told it was a bit of a no no. Also asked how many times i was up throughout the night urinating ( 3-4 usually ) and then asked how much water i drank per day...usually 3-5litres or so. Got told it was far to much and was putting stress on my kidneys and also not allowing them to concentrate my urine overnight, hence keep getting up to urinate...
Got asked about health supplements i use and then my reasoning as to why. She stated from a medical point of view there was no evidence in there benefit, even in people like ourselves.
Curiously one being a concern for the kidneys was Vitamin D!!!! Unfortunately i can't recall why as i had a lot to take in....But she did suggest i drop them and also be wary of my Vit C intake, 3-5g/day as can cause kidney stones.
I take a hole host of vitamins which as mentioned she questioned the benefit, although she says for now i could stay on them so that she has a base of where im at for all my subsequent test coming soon as a precaution.
She confirmed that protein in urine can be caused from many things along with heavy training.....That being said, the cause should be eliminated as it wasnt good for them to leak protein...
As for AAS, she didnt really bat an eyelid and said they shouldnt really have an impact on kidneys.
I asked about my high protein diet as i was about to embark on a show prep to and she said that was fine and also to continue as i am as to change anything would mean she wouldnt be able to see the issue, which was suggested in another thread by other board members to..
Something to think about for sure.....
