Ears ringing, annoying AF

My father has had tinntus for years. Constat air a
Ring. H
Liliterraly tried it all. Flew to ísrael to some supposr good doc there and he improved it buy some percent. He would teach all microwawes or electornics like cell phone incresr it
Did he recommend your dad wear a tinfoil hat as a treatment? Sounds like a quack.

I will ask him today. That doctor was supposed to specialze in these things i think he gave him some meds. But i let you know. also if i remeber right, he told to high iron increse it

My tinnitus has come back with a bang  Watched football last night and had to have the volume on the highest setting to hear anything.

Gonna use some ear candles 2moro to clear my ears out.

Mine have been ringing so long now that I usually don't even realize it. Dang you, you made me pay attention to it again and now I can hear it!

I was the same. I was walking thinking why am I deaf. Then I realized my ears were ringing super loud. I have had it so many years I sometimes don't even notice it. It's like background sound to me. Although sometimes it goes really bad (especially after sleeping) I can't even hear my gf talk to me... so it has it's benefits :D

Same here on all accounts. You just forget about it after awhile, as long as there is some kind of noise in the room that you are concentrating on. Watching a movie, playing a video game, listening to music, those all drown out the ringing. What do you think caused yours? For me I am pretty sure it was loud music. Concerts and listening to my car stereo really loud when I was a kid in high school. Had an Alpine that I would crank up so loud that the neighbors could hear it inside their homes, lol. That was with the car windows all rolled up too, so even worse.

I just saw a news report that said tinnitis is the #1 ailment with soldiers...something like 2.3 million soldiers ( current and retired) are being treated for it...

I keep seeing one of those class action lawsuits on the tv, there is a suit against an earplug manufacturer used by the US armed forces. Appears their earplugs weren't up to specs.

Strange nobody mentions 5G.

U americans all got 5G now i belive. That shit is so crazy, it makes me
scared to my core. It will fry our DNA every fucking second every minute
every hour. CRAZY.

It would make sense if its the radiowaves you feel.
AKA electricy that make the noise.

It so strange cause i just tought about this the other day. It sounds almost
to much. it mutes the room with static spec every night when u turn shit off.

well . . .

It’s going to be tough, next to impossible to prove in a court
of law . . . too many variables. And be specific, most often
it is not the ‘noise’ from the rifle that is causing the hearing
loss or tinnitus it is the vibration as a function of firing a
rifle that travels from and through your cheekbone back to
your inner ear. That (I suspect) will be part of the defense,
and it’s true.

My ears have been ringing for the past couple of months, it's very annoying when there's silence around, trying to sleep.
Any info on this?

If you have any hearing loss associated with your tinnitus,
please see an ENT doctor as soon as possible. Like now, even
if you think you have no hearing loss. For your tinnitus, see
the best ENT you can find and afford and tell him / her about
your tinnitus; when it started and the conditions concurrent
with its arrival.

My history . . .

I could write a book on tinnitus. Have had tinnitus for about
8 years now. It varies in severity but is always present, 24/7,
365 days a year. Sometimes I wonder if I can take another
day with it, then I tell myself I have made it this far, so just
forget about it (easier said than done).

It is the result of unilateral sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL)
or as it is sometimes called, sudden hearing loss (SHL) in
which case, specifically the latter, I was treated for on three
consecutive occasions within 6 months, which is very very
rare. All were considered idiopathic and a medical emergency.
(Think tumor, I underwent a brain MRI.) The result of all
this was severe to moderate tinnitus. I was treated by many
ENT’s for this until I became a patient of literally, the best
doctor in the world for this at UCSF (until he was ‘poached’
by Columbia P&S). But I saw him too late, having been shuttled
from one doc to another until I found him and he agreed to see
me.

There is nothing you can or cannot eat, no medication, supplement,
no pill, cleaning your ears, putting some magic potion in your ear,
Epley maneuvers, estim; nothing will make it go away or will have
a positive, long or short term effect on your tinnitus. And anybody
who tells you any different is a fool or a fraud. All this is coming
from the leading expert in the world (not some anonymous internet
guru) and from my experience as well, from trying literally every-
thing you could possibly think of. Tinnitus has nothing to do with
food you eat or don’t eat and everything to do with damage to
your inner ear. And the ‘noise’ you are hearing is not emanating
from your ear, it’s coming from your brain.

Some cases of tinnitus as a result of exposure to loud music or
noises will correct themselves over time. But long term, repeated
exposure will result in irreversible hearing loss and possible tinnitus.
(There are so many ‘rock’ musicians with tinnitus and hearing loss
it will boggle your mind.) And like I said earlier, some with tinnitus
will experience periods of relief, it will come and go, But for
chronic tinnitus there is no cure but it can becomes less noticeable
over time.

Some medications, supplements and medical treatments are ototoxic.
In many cases, tinnitus will be reversible and temporary upon
termination. In the case of tinnitus as a result of some kinds of
chemotherapy, it is not reversible, not curable. Familiarize yourself
with these drugs and supps as they could be a source of your
tinnitus.

Finally . . .

Zarati, we have not heard back from you in about a month. Let us
know how you and your tinnitus are doing.

I hope you are doing well and find the relief you deserve.

I agree with most parts. For me personally I have issues with excess ear wax and that can contribute to my hearing loss. So occasional ear wax removal can make a big difference to me.

My tinnitus gets worse for a day or so after a loud concert but then diminishes back to the lower level I am accustomed to. From now on I am going to bring ear plugs to the concerts I attend. The hearing loss and tinnitus isn't worth it. So like you said, it can diminish after an exposure, but the chronic ringing in my ears is permanent now and constant.

The ENT guy I saw is a Harvard med school graduate and pretty smart. He told me all the same things your doctor did. Nothing he can do for me, other than to advise me to minimize any more damage to my ears. He recommended wearing hearing protection even when running the lawn mower and using loud powered appliances and tools. Even something like a powerful blender in the kitchen can add to your loss. One thing I took from him was the idea that hearing loss happens usually slowly over the years, as damage is done to the little "hairs" in your ear that receive the sound waves. Once those are damaged it is permanent. The damage accumulates over a life time and I guess that is the major reason old folks have more tinnitus and hearing loss because they have had more time to suffer damage.

Luckily my hearing loss isn't bad enough to require hearing aids, that's what the doc told me.

I was told exactly the same. It must be frustrating for a doctor to be an expert in tinnitus when there isn't actually anything they can do to make it better. We are all essentially stuck with it. My original doctor was no expert but I remember the very first time seeing him about it he said there are tablets you can take but they may make it worse. Doctors do like to throw tablets at people just to make sure but I never used them.

As you state it's all about damage control. I just get on with things and hope for the best. Although I don't listen to any really loud music now and I never wear headphones. I don't require an hearing aid either but perhaps that will change if I get old enough.
