Estrogen Levels and Binge Eating/Cravings

I have read some correlations to Estrogen levels in men, and storage of fat. I have also seen some studies on women correlating estrogen levels and eating disorders. Though is all the reading, there is some mixed info, and of course not each study would fit what I am questioning.

I am a person who gets very very odd and extreme food cravings. It is annoying, and at times they get the best of me. They come in cycles, and are very inconsistent. I have always tried to figure out what these cravings were, why they were happening, and how to avoid them.

With these craving, came the urge to eat alot, and really when eating, I would never feel full, and would want to eat more till they passed.

That being said, I started monitoring myself a few years ago with these cravings. I noticed that at times I would get sensitivity in my nipples. I tried to mentally document these feelings to see if they repeated themselves.

They did repeat themselves, but I did find that I may get sensitivity at other times too.

Then I had noticed a few years back, that if I gave in on eating (no matte what or how much), my chest would swell. I noticed a definite increase in "breast" size. This was not permanent, but it was noticeable. Since at the time I wasn't looking for any signs of this, I brushed it off. Well through today, I notice that this happens every time. It's very odd, but if there is an eating urge, and I give in, I will get some swelling in my chest.

Is it possible, that estrogen spikes or estrogen in general could be the culprit or one of the culprits involved?

Just a thought, and I wanted to see if anyone had any insight.

no thoughts? or did I just make a useless post?? It happens...

I'd like to hear on it as well if anyone here knows.

just speculation unless you get your blood tested. I have had elevated estro levels (over 110 when my T levels were normal- should be in the 20 to 25) and i would correlate it more to irritability and short tempered as well as acne breakouts before breast swelling(versus gyno outbreak) and appetite. But you know our own body. Have you gotten an E2 blood panel?

You eat and then your breasts enlargen? It's all in your head bro.

bump. Could it be you are eating salty foods and retaining water after meals?

I had thought about that too... but it would occur after any eating (sweet, salty, or otherwise).

Plus I have actually checked myself after normal eating of meals that contained salt without the cravings. Basically when no cravings are there, I have no swelling.

I do believe water retention has something to do with it though...

I have not had an E2 panel done... I recently had test and thyroid levels checked, and they were normal.

I tried it on my ex-gf, but it didn't work... so I dumped her.

Seriously... I had thought I was nuts a while back, and then I began to check... and it is noticeable. Especially after it goes away a day later.

Very interesting hypothesis. I really love how someone has a serious scientific question and others instantly try to tell him he's crazy and stupid for using his brain to try and solve his problem. Isn't that what this site is for???

Get your panties out of a bunch, son.

If he's actually experiencing spontaneous breast enlargement, that sounds like he may need medical attention.

If he's just experiencing breast swelling, he's getting bloated from something dietary, or is experiencing higher estrogen levels.

Getting bloated without gear can be from eating excess carbs or taking creatine. That's it, unless it's hormonal.

If he's getting bloated and it's not dietary, it's hormonal--his estrogen levels are higher. This can be innate, or it can be caused by excess bodyfat producing aromatase.

Simple.

IMO The thing to do to test this hypothesis is; Get the cravings and dont eat.

If it's hormonal and not water retention from food, your breasts will swell without the food.

Looking at women's cycles, their breasts swell over a few days and recede (sadly) over a few days. Not instantly.

It sounds like water retention to me. If Im retaining water from excess estro and I wait for it go away, it takes days. For me, water retention from estrogen only clears that fast with and AI, it's mostly gone overnight.
