I have always used whey for my first meal. My reasoning was that I have been fasting for 8 + hours and want a protein that will get into my system quick. However i see on here alot of guys have regular food (eggs, meat, fish etc) for their first meal and was wondering which is actually better? Obviousley whey if your on the go and whole food if you want to enjoy a meal, but in terms of results what do you guys think is best?

A fat dose of casein before you knock out will make your morning decision a lot less important. Whole food is better than whey and whole food with whey is best. I'd experiment if I were you. Do the whey for 3 weeks see how you feel then do the whole food 3 weeks. Then try both for 3 weeks. Note the differences in how you feel during the 9 weeks and go with the one that makes you feel best.
I'm actually revising my current bulking diet trying to eat only whole foods with the exception of pre and post workout shakes.
I always feel so much better when eating clean whole foods as opposed to shakes and weight gainers, especially for breakfast. After all breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
When it comes to meals I enjoy seeing everyone response as the majority of them are different but are still along the same guidelines, good clean food. Now is whey better than a whole food meal? Definitely not. Nothing will beat the benefits that whole food sources will offer. Will it make or break you? No. If whey suits you fine then I say go for it. I personally eat 40gm of oats with 15 gms whey mixed in to add some nice flavor and thickness in addition to 11 eggwhites and 1 whole egg.
My first meal is 2 scoops whey and 3/4C oats. First whole food protein meal is 2 hours later. Main reason is my stomach isn't ready for a heavy meal first thing in the morning.
