I got a grilled chicken last night from the local grocery and I guess it was bad , only my son and I ate it and we both got sick , I guess from being somewhat depleated from dieting it realy took me down. Only lasted a few hrs buit damn I feel like I've been sick for days.

I got a few liters of IV fluids and vitimens here and was wondeing if thier would be any reason not to use that to speed my recovery , stomach still feels a little "shitty" and the IV would realy help replenish the fluids alot faster than I can keep them down now. Maybe some injectible B-12?

If you know how to IV fluids, it would aid in your recovery since you get dehydrated from diarrhea.

Drink water if you can drink, and electrolites are more important now than the B-12

Yep Yep , the wife is an RN and gets all kinds of cools stuff for the house and I have some combat medical training , starting an IV on myself isin't as easy as sombody else but its not to bad.
A liter of fluids and 45 min O2 sure help with hang over recovery also. :p

Hey Gunny, what do you mean by 45 min O2?

Do you keep a CO2 canister in the house & breathe straight CO2 for 45 minutes?

I think that'd be a recipe for suffocation, but I can't think of any other definition for "45 min O2" ?...

Thanks.

yes I have an oxygen bottle here at the house , your not breathing strait oxygen but a small metered amount flows into a mask that has holes in itso when you inhale your breathing in the outside air thats mixed with the O2 in the mask , what you get is "air" that has a bit higher amount of oxygen than the typical air found all around youI forget the exact numbers but I think the actual air your breathing in through the mask is around 40% , typical air we breath everyday is about 21% at sea level (19.5-22.5% normal safe range)

top athletes have been using hyperbaric oxygen rich chambers for years to help speed their recovery , this is basicaly the same idea. I actualy tried training with it a few times and it certainly helps especialy when training legs , it allowed me to get a few extra reps per set and recover much faster , I diden't wear the mask while doing the set just between sets.

breathing strait oxygen for to long is not good for you.

desperately trying to determine how you magically added a C to O2. he makes no mention of carbon dioxide (CO2) whatsoever, he says O2, which is diatomically bound Oxygen (oxygen in the troposphere exists only this way).

45 min O2 indicates he keeps an oxygen canister around which he mixes with normal air to breathe. unless of course someone knows a way OTHER than breathing to take in oxygen.

Partly my fault , I should have said oxygen rather than "O2" as most people only ever hear the O2 part when it follows the C being "C02" (carbon dioxide) but yes I actualy do have a bottle of C02 in my work shop as well as nitrogen , argon and helium (mostly all for welding) but all of these use totaly differant fitting that what you could fit to the oxygen system in the house unless you did some major refiguring.
their no fouls for questions , better ask a question than to go around with the wrong impression. Next thing you know some kid reads this and tells his buddy that C02 help cure a hang over , next Saturday morning their out huffing car exhaust thinking its carbon dioxide when its realy carbon monoxide .

yeah some people believe anything they read, especially kids.

you indicate that exhaust is not CO2, its CO. acutally its the complete reverse. if given sufficient oxygen , combustion of gasoline produces no CO - not one molecule of it. of course we dont live in an ideal world thermodynamically, so combustion is often incomplete. still the amount of CO2 produced is far greater than the amount of CO produced.

hexane a main constituent of gasoline is C6H14

when given sufficient oxygen you get
2C6H14 + 19O2 ---> 14H2O + 12CO2
with no CO produced

with insufficient oxygen
C6H14 + 5O2 -> CO2 + CO + 4C + 7H2O
a molecule of CO is produced along with 4 atoms of carbon

the complete combustion occurs far more often than incomplete. if it didnt your car wouldnt have sufficient power to move itself.

gas also contain many other hydrocarbons, notably octane. remember the fewer the carbon atoms in a chain of a hydrocarbon, the more explosive it is. therefore higher octane gas is actually less flammable than lower octane! octane will help prevent hexane from igniting at too low a temperature. we call this pre-detonation or pinging. performance engines often have higher engine compression. consider the engine is hot (around 195F). the piston rapidly compresses the vaporized gasoline-air mixture, under high enough compression it can ignite from the compresison and heat - BEFORE its supposed to, i.e. before the spark plug fires. octane helps prevent this.

Nerd !! (automatic childish defense)

Just kidding bro , very impressive info. Its good to see people passionate enough about their knowledge to share it.

DUDE I AM A NERD!!!! seriously though i have no life, i eat and workout and work.

also i just happen to have some info in one field - physics, and a bit of chemistry (chemistry is physics on a microscopic level). other people have different interests and they have equally nerdy knowledge in those fields. for example you said you had medical combat training. you could be hooking someone up with IV saving their life. all i could tell you is what the pastic IV bag is made from and how carbon forms almost endless chains, which is the more useful there? :)

to me everyone has a useful skill, or knowledge. consider a surgeon at a hospital. 12 years of school, very intelligent. probably arrogant. now think of the maintenance guy that works in the hospital basement. no one would even consider comparing their inteligence levels. but if the power goes out, that maintenance guy keeps generators running so EVERYONE in the hospital can stay alive. who is to say which is more useful?
