I hear this a lot......"If he gets shredded look out".........or........"He has all the size but just needs to get lean and he will be a pro". Well, genetics also determines who can be lean all over while keeping their size. The difference between a pro with great genetics and an amateur with soso genetics is the ability to lose that last bit of fat in that problem area with out sacrificing muscle elsewhere to do it.....and staying in proportion. I think this is an overlooked part of "having genetics" for this sport. You can have all the muscle in the world but if you cant SAVE it whilst getting shredded.......you will be an amateur.........or a power lifter, which is maybe what that person should look into. This genetic quality is what made Sean Ray and Lee Labrada and Frank Zane and on and on so great.

Don't under estimate yourself..If you would have been born 10 yrs later and with all the shit they have now you might be surprised.

A lot of people say that paco bautista has bad genetics, I think : "Off course, structuraly bad genetics, but somebody who can be 260-270 with that conditioning must have some sort of genetic gift, otherwise we would see people with that size and conditioning more often onstage"

yea paco bautista is kinda the "odd man out" huh, genetically speaking, he got shafted in the structure department, but going back to what phil is talking about shit paco is "THE" genetic freak in that department, he gets absolutely freaking nasty peeled for such a big man.

Agreed-but when you say "GOOD-GENETICS"-which part in the human physiology does it relate to?(i can see genetics relate to the ability to gain muscle-size(myostatin inhibition),symetry(the way are muscles created during puberty),bone-structure(same) and such)-wouldnt that(fat-loss/muscle-preservation)-would be related to diet and T3/T4 ratio's in our body?(and offcourse the amount of calories we burn with exercise)?

Its not about how much muscle you have, but how much proportioned muscle actually shows ( pops out) and at the same time pleasing to the eye. We can all diet, but we all cant be lean EVERY PLACE uniformly while keeping the PLEASING MUSCLE in all the right places.
 
Trey Brewer comes to mind. Along with that other MuscleTech guy who didnt do much as a pro? I think he went into Wrestling maybe? Guy looked great in a sleeveless shirt. But just like Phil said, when he dieted down he lost all his mass.

isnt that the truth... how bout proportioned fat? I think its harder to distribute fat then it is muscle in the right places. hahha.... I am the fat king fo sho!!

A guy that has proportioned fat has a lot easier time keeping muscle mass while dieting down........because it comes off as it went on.......proportionately.

How quickly will/can you notice if someone has great genetics? Does that question make sense..

YOU NEED TO KNOW
1. WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN EATING LIKE/HOW LONG
2. WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN TRAINING LIKE/HOW LONG
3. WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN TAKING/HOW LONG
4. IQ LEVEL
5. MOTIVATIONAL LEVEL/COMMITMENT/ATTITUDE
6. HOW THEY APPEAR UNTRAINED
 
Heres my take.

Offseason everyone puts on all kinds of size, they add muscle and add weight, and are told over and over how great they look and or how huge they have become ect.

They pack on muscle without onto a frame that already is behind the 8 ball in the genetic department, they win a local show and people act as if that person had just qualified for the O.

But what really matters is how that size looks on its frame or bone structure, when dieted down the last few weeks that person will be dead on target, within 10 days leading up to contest he will then realize 2 things, 1 he has lost the muscle size he worked so hard for and 2 he does not possess the genetic ability to burn that last bit of fat hence coming in dry and full will never be obtainable.

To become a decent bber you must have genetics, genetics do not just apply to muscle but also to conditioning, you got to have genetics to win plain and simple, Oh and I'm not talking winning the crackerhead state show :).
