Ok, as many of you may or may not know, a crapload of stuff went down with me over the past year that forced me to layoff. I haven't been in the gym the entire time, so I need some advice. First, I definitely know not to jump back into supplements, I'm going to try and gain back as much as I can before going back to that, however, what I would like to hear some opinions on, is the actual workout factor. When I was at my peak, after experimenting with many different types of splits/routines, I followed a 5 day on, 2 day off routine, hitting each bodypart once a week, and that worked just awesome for me then, but starting over, what do you guys think a good plan to follow would be? I was thinking maybe a full body workout twice a week or so for a couple few weeks, then go to a 2 on 2 off, and so on and so on until I build back up to the 5 day thing. It's been so many years since I had to start from scratch, I'm really not sure...What do you think? :confused:

This is how I start my PT clients off-but they usually are out of condition completely.
2wks full body 3x wk.
Then 6wks up-low split, each 2x wk.
Then regular bodypart spits, working each (except calves/abs) 1x wk.

The 6wks upper-lower body split Id reduce to 2-3wks for someone who has the past experience that you do.
 
You know it's just gonna take some time for your body to adjust. Just don't overdo and hurt yourself.

Muscle memory is a wonderful thing - it just don't come back overnight.

Welcome back. I am just getting back myself. I am doing the same type of workout. I go light to medium on my workout twice a week. It comes back fast. just dont let your mind over power your work so as not to become injured. I had both my knees replaced. I think I will be able to get my legs back I will just have to train different. I did my first heavy work last week. I used two boards so as not to come down all the way. And kept it to just the two heavy sets.
 
I feel ya brother,

I got back in about 2 months ago, dude, the first week was horrible, getting sick (probably over training), looking at the weaklings at the gym lifting more than I can, just gave me the drive to train harder, after those first two weeks, started gettn my groove back ( How Sabutar Got his Groove Back), now just like it used to be, looked at my old training logs, looks like I'm coming back stronger, its a beutiful thing. just hang in there brother, popn the cherry always hurts a little.
