Anabolic steroids are Schedule III controlled substances.

Simple HGH possession is still prosecuted under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act as a prescription medication without a prescription. However the Anabolic Steroids Control Act of 1990 increased the penalties for HGH possession with the intent to distribute and also provides for criminal forfeiture of assets.

IGF-I is not currently regulated by the US government.
