Just wondering anyone using places online.

I was looking for best and most cost effective place to get grass fed beef online after shipping cost.

in mountain dogs thread in the articles section he suggests US wellness meats

also if you call them and give them the coupon code "super human", or maybe "super human radio" (i forget which one it is) then supposedly you get a discount on a grass fed beef package. not sure how good of a deal it is bc i havent checked into it yet but if you find out let me know

I am interested in this too. US seems kind of high.

You might Google local free range or something to see what is in your area. I lucked out and there is an old farm just up the street from me that has a big walk in cooler. They sell free range grain fed or grass fed. They have free range chickens right there by the shop and they will go get you a dozen fresh eggs. It is definitely more expensive then grocery store meat but much better for you.

Already checked this out and only thing in area is 1hr away and is half and whole cow, averages $6 lb which I don't need that much at one time and can't pay that much at a time. These framers do sell there beef to some local health food stores, but just the ground beef is $8 lb. if you buy from them.

Only thing locally is where I get my raw milk they have a few frozen paks of ground veil sometimes for $5-6 lb.

I don't want to spend more than $5 pound on grass fed ground beef after shipping.

I'm not sure I understand,

Isn't grass fed beef considered the lower grade? As opposed to corn/grain/soy fed beef?

I've had real luck at Costco buying beef. Cheap cuts (like sirloin etc) are 2.99/lb here, rib eye or NY strip are 5.99-7.99 depending on the season. Ground beef (min 90% lean) is like 2.59 a lb.

Pork Tenderloin is ridiculously cheap (and super tastey) there also.

Why buy a whole side?

I've ordered it a few times but I can't remember where. It's just too pricy for me especially with the amount I eat. I'll just eat the cheap stuff and take a few fish oil caps. Sometimes I find better deals at the farmers market or wholefoods

no, the grass fed beef is superior. cows are not meant to eat corn, soy, and whatever else they put in the feed. the meat has a superior omega fat profile. also, grass fed is usually hormone free and raised in a stress free environment unlike those raised on an industrial "farm". lot of benefits to it but it is pricey, i usually stick with grass fed ground beef which isnt too bad.

Organic Food: The Real Story

A review conducted in July 2009[14] investigated differences in the nutrient contents between conventional and organic foods. Eleven crop nutrient categories were analyzed. The researchers identified 162 studies; 55 were of satisfactory quality. Only the satisfactory quality studies were analyzed. Conventionally produced crops had a significantly higher content of nitrogen, and organically produced crops had a significantly higher content of phosphorus and titratable acidity. There was no difference between the two for the remaining 8 of 11 crop nutrient categories analyzed. Analysis on livestock products indicated no difference in nutrient content between organically and conventionally produced livestock products. After reviewing studies of satisfactory quality the researchers concluded that there is no evidence of a difference in nutrient quality between organic and conventional foods.

Fair enough but the article and research stands.

BTW, Have a Happy and safe Superbowl Sunday! I hope you all win big $$$!

I think the allure of grass fed beef is the leanness of the meat and the CLA. I wish I could find the studies that I read but they, very basically, stated that while it's true that the meat and eggs do contain higher levels of these healthy fats, the actual amount was miniscule and weren't sufficient to be the only source of these fats if you were trying to get significant levels in your diet. So, since I'm still gonna have to take fish/coconut oil, why would I spend more on free range meat and eggs? I can just buy conventional lean meat and regular eggs like I've done for decades. At the end of the day, if it makes you feel better to eat grass-fed beef do it but it isn't necessary and won't do anything to your physique or health that a strict diet won't. Not to mention that the lack of fat makes it drier/less flavorful and more suitable to slow-cooking (unless you eat your meat rare.)
