Today of all days (my birthday) I was doing deep (ass on ground) heavy squats (heavy for me - I'm 44, 205 lbs, and lifting 385) and at half way up on second rep of 2nd set my groin muscle just completely gave out from under me. I was on a PowerRack - so no worries there.
I couldn't of course do any other types of leg workout including extensions or any kind of calve workout. Just couldn't take any pressure.
Now, 4 hours later, I wouldn't describe it as pain however a definite discomfort when walking however can bend over fine and have full flexibility without too much difficulty.. There is slight swelling in groin up thru pubic area next to the boys however no pain in lower abdomen. The boys don't hurt at all however I am on cycle (test e and var) and they aren't quit as big as they normally are.
Two questions:
1) Is there a way to self diagnosis a hernia vs. a groin pull\stain or should I just go to doctor right away?
2) I have made tremendous gains over past 3 years (60 lbs while dropping body fat considerably) most of which has come without gear. Most of the gains I attribute to heavy squats, and dead lifts. However, at my age should I consider not doing such heavy squats and deads even if this injury now comes out to be nothing more than a groin issue?
Thanks for advise. --H
