I was asked the other day about wether or not taking a does of 6iu's ed of HGH would cause a pronounced "growth gutt" , I said no probably not becasue I've heard that the main cause of this is the IGF-1 use and miss use.

Any of you guys care to put in your two cents?

Magnum's post from another board

There was a discussion about "growth gut" on another board and Magnum made a couple of very interesting posts (I hope he'll chime in here too...):

In all seriousness, you are assuming that all this stomach distention is from organ growth and that is not possible. Don't debate me on this as I have consulted many Dr's about this even though I knew it was not possible anyway. It is caused by viceral fat from too much insulin usage. Palumboism is just a word that someone made up so it hardly classifies as a condition. As I said before, King has stayed lean this time so his gut is about the same size now than when he was onstage. All that can happen now is for it to get smaller from dieting.
....
When you stimulate the pancreas to produce insulin or are taking insulin you are stimulating your body to store viceral fat. You've seen the fat guys with stomachs that are hard as a rock but have virtually no fat on the outside of their stomach. They look like they have swallowed a watermelon. These guys are carb eating machines. If they cut down on carbs then the viceral fat will start to leave. Now with BBs, these guys are almost always taking insulin all the way up to the show. Their body never lets go of the viceral fat because they are constantly stimulating their body to store it. Organ fat is always the last to leave.

What if your not taking insulin? Is viceral fat linked carbs via natural insulin? or could insulin resistance be a cause?

The guy doing the explaining seems to not even know it's viSceral fat, go figure. (yeah yeah he made a typo several times:D)

I have to disagree with you here....not knocking what you are saying but I have seen alot of guys whom never used insulin with GH GUT.

Palumbo follows a keto diet for show prep and in his everday life he eats very little carbs!!!! I lived with Dave to know his daily routine this is not the case.

Palumbo and I have had this discussion a few times and it seems in theroy that the DIET and Constant eating is the cause of the Growth in the GUT region.

Think about the old days they ate alot in one meal but they didnt eat all day long like the guys today do. What happens when you eat constantly is the food keeps the stomach and muscles expanded and bloated 24 hours a day and constantly stretches them.

Your body is constanly full and never truly has time to breakdown all the food in a timely manner so it gets stored and causes bloating and fullness in the abdominal areas.

Take a rubber band for example here: hang a 1lb weight from a rubberband for a year and then release it....I bet the rubber band is overstretched now and will never go back to its normal size:confused:

Now here is how it comes into play.....for 20 weeks or more of bulking force your stomach to fit in 8 to 12 meals in 16 hours a day and then precontest time explain to me how the stomach will get its shape back after you have kept it stretched out for 20 plus weeks straight????

Hmm

I always read it was from eating large meals and by eating more smaller meals in the day will help. I still believe its from the drugs and amounts being used today.

Nobody has any proof at all but this is just my opinion here....think about what I am saying and it should make perfect sense instead of blaming drugs...the answer to a complicated question comes in a simple form always.

Also make note the guys and girls whom have GH Gut don't eat more meals all day that are smaller....they eat the same size meals just more of them.

Kai Greene eats 9 lbs of fish a day along with carbs in each meal....do you think 9 meals ant 16 oz a meal of just fish is smaller?

He eats 9lbs of fish! WOW

Yes Precontest Oscar has him on 9 lbs of fish each day!!! I know this for FACT not just a story....anyone who knows my screenname from MD magazine knows I am close to the sport

I have to wonder if this theory is correct. I have a gut that sticks out with little bodyfat on the outside. I developed this far before being on anything, AAS, IGF, or HGH. I ate normally, three meals each day. I didn't know it at the time, but since then I have been diagnosed with hypoglycemia because symptoms became more severe. So all this time, my body has been overproducing insulin, but because I exercised, I never gained any fat on the outside. To this day, I still have not been able to lose the visceral fat, and that is probably because I have had to take in a lot of simple and complex carbs every day just to keep my blood sugar from bottoming out.

Interesting to here this Saudades as I also have had a protruding gut all my life. I started weight training to get my pecs to stick out further than my gut. Got my pecs larger but also my gut...:(

What were the more severe symptoms you noticed?

I WONDER

about this as I am hypoglycemic as well and must eat every 2 to 3 hours or I am in trouble, I too have a gut but have never used insulin or gh and even when I used to cycle did only lower dose test and eq. So this makes sense to me... now I am trying to find out what(besides cardio) burns visceral fat. :confused:

I agree with Billy Guns on this for most of the population. I think the combination of excessive food amounts + Insulin = what we most likely see from a lot of individuals we see suffering from "palumboism." So in essence, I agree with both. I agree with Billy because i've seen gut growth in guys that have never used either insulin nor HGH. However, I do think insulin sensitivity exacerbates it and can cause it on it's own as well.

In addition to what BG and Magnum have stated, I think compounds such as dbol, anadrol, etc will exacerbate it as well too. Not saying they effect leanness, but imo, will also cause distention.

That's why I use an AI, r-ALA, do cardio, digestive enzymes when I can, etc.

Not saying i'm right, nor am I an expert on gut growth, but those are my experiences from myself and observations from others.

I think each one can cause it, but when combined, it makes it even worse:(

I've always understood growth gut is caused by the fact that your intestines have a large ammount of IGF receptors. Igf causes your intestines to grow

most common cause is excess food in the gi tract. you can test this by dieting for a few days and see if the distention disappears after a few bowel movements. could also be visceral fat, fluid retention, or organ growth from large amounts of GH, hypertrophy of abdominal muscles... and many other possible causes.

for your GH question, it's hard to say what dose would cause the organ growth. it would be an individual thing. acromegaly is a disease from excess GH production. GH supplementation can have similar effects.
One of the most common signs of acromegaly is enlarged hands and feet. People with this disorder often notice that they can no longer put on rings that used to fit and that their shoe size has progressively increased.

Acromegaly may also cause you to experience gradual changes in the shape of your face, such as a protruding lower jaw and brow, an enlarged nose, thickened lips, and wider spacing between your teeth.

Because acromegaly tends to progress slowly, early signs may not be readily apparent for several years. Sometimes, people notice the condition only by comparing old photographs.

Acromegaly may produce the following signs and symptoms, which can vary from one person to another:

* Enlarged hands and feet
* Coarsened, enlarged facial features
* Coarse, oily, thickened skin
* Excessive sweating and body odor
* Small outgrowths of skin tissue (skin tags)
* Fatigue and muscle weakness
* A deepened, husky voice due to enlarged vocal cords and sinuses
* Severe snoring due to obstruction of the upper airway
* Impaired vision
* Headaches
* Enlarged tongue
* Pain and limited joint mobility
* Menstrual cycle irregularities in women
* Erectile dysfunction in men
* Enlarged liver, heart, kidneys, spleen and other organs
* Increased chest size (barrel chest)

Distended gut

This seems to be a complex issue with many different possible reasons.

I do have this distended gut issue and am trying to correct it: I always figured it's fat related as I have never used GH, insulin or IGF-1, so go figure.

I am on a fat loss mission now and will report what I find when complete.
