Anyone doing anything super special this year?

I know Alfresco mentioned he may be going abroad for Christmas this year...

In my home we are actually baking home made pizzas all day, and cookies...lots of cookies.......Tony has one batch he made up

I always have open house anyone is invited

What's gets me about christmas is the fact that in regards to the world population (7 billion or so), so many are starving to death. And yet at this time the ones that are in the "privileged" category, worry about christmas. It's kinda hard to enjoy this time knowing this.

BTW, is "god" really behind this time of year, just asking?

Merry Christmas to you guys. And the Irish are not the only ones who know how to do Christmas. Down here we sit around from the crack of dawn and drink, eat, sit by the pool, eat drink and talk shit, eat drink some more and fall in the pool then follow that with more eating, oh did I mention drink? well that too. And all of this before lunch!! HAHAHAHAHA no kidding. It is the height of summer here and hot as hell, so we do the whole out door thing. Chrissy eve here and I will be in front of the Webber all day doing ham and turkey, my special glaze and some good old southern style baked beans!! These guys do not know what hit them when I cook. Did I mention drinking?? well more of that too!

Mrs. Bapper...........Please try to think of the good times. I know this will be hard for you this year but BB is looking down at you and smiling. He knows what a special woman you are and would not want it any other way. So celebrate the day as he would and enjoy this time. And Seamus (RIP), "We got your back buddy". "RESPECT"

Oldlifter...is God really behind all of this...I don't see in the Bible where Jesus Christ celebrated His birthday. In fact, scholars have shared that He actually wasn't born in Dec, since the month/date do not line up with the actual Jewish celebration at that time of the year, and when they collected taxes.

That all said, it is a way to celebrate, to those who believe in Him, the birth of our risen messiah. To others it is a day to be with family and friends sharing love and gifts.

To your statement of the billions of those starving, this is sad and it has been this way for thousands of years. Yet many of those starving or lacking are also celebrating on this day. Maybe not to the magnitude of more privileged, but by their own means. This is not a day for the privileged, but for those who have hope, and for those who have love towards one another. I dare say, that there are more underprivileged who celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, than those who are privileged.

Is God behind it...I doubt it...He doesn't need parties, celebrations, or holidays. What He looks for is faith...in His son...in whose birthday we celebrate on Christmas.
