hey guys, i was in the gym doing legs on monday, nothing out of the ordinary. i usuakky get sick on leg day so when it happened this time i didnt think anything of it. i finished my workout and had a splitting headach, was pale as a ghost and could barely stand. so i stretched for a little while then got on the treadmill to walk off the pump in my legs. nothing fast, just an easy pace.
after about 8 or 9 minutes my chest started hurting and it got really hard to breath, then my back started tightrning up arcoss my traps and in between my shoulder blades. i didnt think much of it, i thought i was sore from where the bar was sitting for squats, i was using 635 so i was expecting to be a little tight. i kept walking and it just got worse.
i quit after 2 or 3 more minutes but still hurt in my chest and had trouble breating and talking. i went home to take a nap and it hurt more once i laid down. after this kept up for over an hour i went to the emergency room. when i got there my blood pressure was 171/103, i was dehydrated, and the pains persisted. they gave me 2 nitrostat tabs to bring my blood pressure down.
they kept me over night to run some tests, EKG, blood work and an echocardiagram. when there is a heart attack the 2 enzymes they look for are Troponin and CPK(creatine blah kinase).
For troponin. normal is <1.5 and CPK is 0-200. my troponine was 10 and cpk was 3580!! which indicates a heartattack. on the cardiagram there was no indication of damage to the heart which is great. so they arenit really sure what happened. i have to go back in a week for anther cardiagram and blood work.
i knew i had been pushing too hard for too long and was about to take it easy after a powerlifting meet i had coming up. i guess thats out now.
i just wanted to let u all know to be careful and listen to your body.
