It seems that most recommend doing cardio in the am on an empty stomach. Does this apply to hiit cardio? I'm of course worried about muscle loss

What's everyone personal experience with trad cardio vs interval cardio for bbing purposes? It seems like its trendy bit have never heard of a pro who does hiit cardio

I did it during my prep during the time frame that I had carbs in my diet. I think it works well and certainly helped me shed fat. You can't compare yourself to what a pro does either. Chances are, you don't have pro genetics so how can you go by what a pro does?

I didn't mean to imply that if I did pro does I would be a pro...too many seem to jump to conclusions like that. I meant it as is high intensity interval cardio a trend aimed to the gen public like cross fit etc and does anyone that has any bodybuilding aspirations from recreational to competitive actually have much experience with it? Thanks for the reply....

I personally love high impact, high intensity, short interval cardio, have been doing it for years when wanting to shed fat, I do it first thing in the morning, I believe it actually helps you hang on to your muscle. God bless you.

It will depend on your diet, your ability to burn fat, your supplementation etc. If you can get lean and ripped with low intensity cardio, why would you need to do HIT aside from switching it up so not to be bored of doing the same crap over and over.

I believe Shelby has done HIT before in his contest prep and I'm sure you are aware of his competitive experience. He had me do HIT for my first prep and I know quite a few other clients did as well. I'm sure he wouldn't have us do this if he thought the muscle/fat loss ratio was not beneficial as his recognition as a trainer depends on his clients results.

Don't freak out too much about losing muscle doing HIT on an empty stomach... you might indeed burn some muscle in the process, but if your nutrition is in check you'll repair it afterwards.

The metalobolic increase it provides (hence higher fat burning) far outweights this muscle loss concern IMO.

if your a ectomorph then i say no way other then that i think your better off doing a hitt pwo out but i dont see doing it on a empty stomach hurting you besides maybe a little amino acid brake down for energy.
