to eat a microwave dinner as a few of ur meals during the day? like the hungry man? or healthy choice brand? tryin to figure out a diet with time and budget so i figured id ask bc some have good amounts of protien and such but i wonder how good these actually are? very easy to prepare through out the day on the job so thats why i ask. anyone eat these as well?

hope not to many flame the fuck outta me for askin haha confused:  :p

good question,

I used to eat the shit out of those back in the day, then i read up on a lot of em and screwed my head on straight. I would venture to say that eating the micro dinners like hungry man are worse for you than mcdonalds.... they are loaded with preservatives and a lot of fat. when i was broke in college i ate them at least 2 times a day, and looked and felt like shit! even the lean cusine ones are crap...

I dont think it will kill you to have one here and there but I would definatly not make a habit of it on a day to day basis... shit, the first show I did I ate those lean cusines every day! I didnt know any better? the nutrition facts looked o.k., but they are deficent in a lot of nutrients and loaded with preservitives...

subway 6 inch sandwich double meat is a good cheap way to eat on a budget and on the run(not the best, but a hell of a lot better than micro dinners), if I know i will be away from food for a while and dont have time to prepare I will grap a few chicken sandwiches and save them till meal time

good luck bro

thanks for the info bro, time and budget has changed ALOT so im jus pondering ideas off the top of my head. tryin to come up with some diet to hit300-400g of protien and around 4000 cals, thast fast and easy and cheap, college budget for my happy ass right now :(

yeah i gotta agree with km2000. but i am guilty of eating my share of those hungry man fried chicken ones lol. subway is a pretty good choice in my opinion. and i still find myself almost living off of tuna at times even though i have to wash it down with some sort of liquid because i cant stand to eat it anymore. luckily my wife's parents own cattle, and we always get a shit load of free beef:D

i eat a lot of chicken breast lunch meat and the cajun roast beef from the deli here in town. easy, conveniant, and fairly cheap. peanut butter is cheap too

i always buy frozen chicken breasts, not sure how everyone feels about them, but thats the exact same brand and bag of chicken breasts i always buy. that and you can try those little cornish hens, which are like $2 a piece with about 35g protein i believe. i dont eat super clean so i usually bring one of those with some stuffing with me to work for my lunch break. oh and everytime i bake somethin in the oven i cover the pan with aluminum foil so i dont hafta wash the damned thing everytime. saves a lot of time and aggeravation.

awesome thanks for the info bro. i was buyin all my meat form a local deli but its very costly and i jus cant do it anymore

Buy 5-10lbs of chicken and cook it all sunday night, then refridgerate. This should hold you over for a few days. Definetly convient to cook all at once. Best part is its healthy, not loaded w/ sodium & fats like foods mentioned above, and definetly cheaper in the long run vs. deli meats and tv dinners.

They had a special today at Randels 1.79lb for chicken breast. I bought 20lbs for only ~40 bucks. I'm good to go for a good two weeks. Very cheap:D

Sounds like a lot of chicken to be eating all the time....just get creative, you can come up w/ some awesome quick recipes.

When I want something fast, easy and cheap I open a couple of cans of tuna and have some 10 minute boil-in-a-bag brown rice. I rinse the saltly water out of the tuna to decrease the sodium content. I buy the tuna on sale for 50 cents a can, that's 60 grams of protein. That's a lot of protein for $1

Cook all your food for the day in one go last thing at night or first thing in the morning. Thats what I have been doing for years.

You want easy meals. I eat this 3x-4x a day and its easy, VERY quick and great. Each meal consists of : Whey Isolate Shake w/ 250mL of 2% milk + 2 tsp of EVOO and a banana (150g peeled)

That gives me : 38 Protein
50 Carbs
17 Fat
505 Calories

Thats a perfect 30-40-30 ratio. All you have to do in the morning is get 2 plastic bags and put your pwder in them. Then put powder in your shaker bottle. Also grab 3 banana's along with you bottle of EVOO and your measuring spoons and your off. It takes me 2 minutes to make and pack 3 or 4 meas. Its great and tasty! GOODLUCK!

PS. Its much quicker if you ALWAYS drink all your protein as I do. The only time I eat it is if I am at home and have time I will make eggs or chicken. Do not worry about cooking meat and taking it with you. Takes too long!

i was under the impression its not good to drink all of ur protein, that u cant rely on shakes to get ur needs for protein. that u need jus as much food with high protein as well. if i am wrong then shit ya id drink shakes all day VERY easy but good idea tho ill have to take some of these up and throw them in there :)

i think i got my diet sut up as far as proteina nd cals but jus not sure on how healthy it is bc its "cheaper" foods.

How bad is it??

Two words F*****g Bad!! There are lots of good suggestions here and more coming. You young fellas are always on the go. Slow down, put a little time aside and prepare some reasonable food in advance. I do this as well as lots of others here. Get a rice cooker!! One of the best pieces of kitchen equipment you'll ever own. You can cook any thing in these and all at once. Steamed chicken and rice no fat, good protein and good carbs. Steam your veggies in it too, also fish etc. get on with it and toss out the trash!!

Phil drinks all his protein. Shit he used to drink all his meals!

Like everyone else has already said t.v dinners suck there loaded with sodium and fat. They may look like they meet your nutrition requirements but the protein they have is of very low quality. If your pressed for time and money do like everyone suggests prepare all your food on a sunday and have it ready for the week. You will save much more money this way and wont have to worry about the quality of your food because you know its fresh. If your into shakes and dont want to get all your protein from powder why dont you try Vanders "tuna shake":foo:-smil

never eat junk/fast food! its like asking is it ok to smoke a pack of ciggs every now and then...if you can avoid it at any cost then do so...

cityslicker 1 gave you some good advice with the preprepared meals! i know its not easy to get quality food all the time but (in my opinion) fast food and mcdonalds are poison...

to truly appretiate the value of healthy food one must eat superclean for like 2-3 months and then go to a mcdonalds...i guarantee it will be the last voluntary junk meal in your life...alex

Boil-in-bag long grain rice is the goods. I use those Tyson or Purdue frozen chicken breasts and boil 4 or 5 in the morning and then put the rice (4 bags) in the chicken water. Tupperware everything with some broccoli and you have 3 out of your 5 meals right there and can heat up in a mic in about 4 minutes. I eat them with my purified, micronized, fucking-stripped-of-everythingized fish oil caps and bromelain. That's like 150 grams of protein, 300gms of carbs, and however much from the broccoli (who cares?) and the fish oil. These three meals, a few shakes, along with one cheat meal on the go and I'm pushing some good healthy calories. Right now, I'm hungry for some lemon meringue pie. Looks like pie and milk for me tonight for my cheat.

Also, I eat the chicken, wait another 15 minutes or so, and then eat the rice. Seems to digest better that way.

thanks for all the info i will DEF stay the hell away from the TV dinner shit. sounded to good to be true anyways thats why i asked instead of actually goin by the back of the box and what it says

im not used to this diet shit all set out and planned really. i would jus eat somethin every 2 to 3 hours and eat as much as i could and try to stay on the healthy side of it all(no fast food etc, jus deli meat and such)

but now bc of major budget changes and time changes im tryin to set it all out and spend less money as i can

i think i came up with a diet that holds good protien and cals. it reaches my needs at least

here it is - PLEAAASE FLAME THE SHIT OUTTA WHATEVER NEEDS TO BE!!

8am - 5 eggs, 2 slices of honey wheat bread, isopure shake (86g of protein, 962 cals)

1030am - 2 cans of valley fresh chicken, 1 apple, 1 cup of green giant sweet whole kernal corn (34.4g protein, 372 cals)

1pm - 2 tyson skinnless chicken breast(6.9oz), 1 1/2 cups of uncle bens spanish rice, 3 small red potatoes 980.1g protein, 1067 cals)

330pm - 2 packs of austin peanut butter crackers, isopure shake, 1 banana (59.4g protein 721 cals)

630pm - 2 tyson skinnless chicken breast(6.9oz), 1 1/2 cups of uncle bens spanish rice, 3 small red potatoes 980.1g protein, 1067 cals)

930pm - pre workout drink

10pm - gym

1130pm(in bed snack) - 8 tbl spoons of PB, isopure shake (82g protein, 960 cals)

total protein = 422g
total cals = 5149

i no there has got to be alot wrong with this im sure but im tryin to reach 4000 to 5000 cals a day and 300 to 400g of protein a day. im not concerned about fat truly bc i need it. and im sure i lack on carbs but i can always add those in. this is a rough draft of me tryin to put a set diet into work for the first time so please do whatever to fix it if u will. i will say this. i hate veggies(i know its bad!!) and i dont do sea food(tuna = )

other supps i take ED is -

Vit C
Vit B complex
Fish oils
Flaxseed oils
Animal pack
Multi Vit with whole foods

NOTE: all these claculations were done up with using calorie king, sorry if they r off

These are garbage food. Loaded in sodium, fat and preservatives.

balla: I eat them more than I care to admit. Especially Hungry Man XXL . But all the sodium raises my blood pressure which is borderline high already...

km2000: something in Subway's meat gives me the poops... Maybe I just live near a bad one

ironfreak: I forgot all about cornish hens. I used to eat then all the time until they jacked up the price on them where I live.

Ouch: I'll definitely be using your boiled chicken and rice-in-a-bag recipe. How long do you boil the chicken for?
