How exactly do cutting-steroids reduce subq water?

Hey there,

Can someone of you explain me how exactly all of those cutting-steroids like winny, primo, masteron or tren reduce subq water? Of course all of them don't aromatize so they don't make you hold water from elevated estrogen levels but how do they make you get rid of the water? With regard to tren, I've heard it's a glucocorticoid antagonist and it decreases blood corticosteroid levels and for this reason, it reduces subcutaneous water retention. But is this the only reason and does it also go for the dht based drug?

Some steroids can decrease sub-q water retention via different mechanisms..

1. Cortisol antagonism. By either reducing cortisol levels or preventing cortisol from doing part of its job; which can decrease sub-q retention. Halotestin is likely the best drug for that with maybe metyltrienolone and tren to a less degree.

2. Antagonising progesterone and/or estrogen: this is mostly found in DHT-based steroids. By lowering the activity of estrogen and progesterone you decrease water rentention. Winstrol, primo and masteron would be good examples.

3. Increasing intramuscular glycogen storage. While all steroids increase intramuscular glycogen storage, some are more effective than others. Tren being the best example. If you store more glucose in the muscle you need to pull in more water too. Each gram of glucose requiring 3g of water to be stored. That can decrease sub-q water by shifting it more inside the muscles
