Well, JT and I spent the weekend together but those happy faces in the pics were after he had to come get me. I got pulled over about an hour away from our house. I was going a little over the speed limit and when the officer came back he asked if I knew why my driver's license is suspended. I said, No. He asked me if I had any other outstanding tickets...$H!T!
Back in December I drove home to renew the tags on my Nissan and the courthouse told me they had already been picked up. Huh...ok, my dad picks up the tags for my little Ford Ranger and he must have picked up the Nissans as well. When I went out there and tried to get them, my dad said he didn't pick up the Nissan's tags. I had already taken the day off to go get them 4 hours away and couldn't stay for another day I had finals. So I was on my way back there the following Friday (again took the day off to go) and I got pulled over for expired tags and was given a ticket. I called the court during to see if I could get in before Christmas break and they said no, they would schedule me in January and send me a letter. Well, I never got the letter and this was when the heat was turned up to finish my master's paper before February. So, I forgot about the ticket...until this Friday.
I tell him this and the officer tells me I have two choices: 1) He can bring me to an ATM and I can pay the $40 for the speeding violation and $285 for driving with a suspended license or he can take me to jail and I can bond out. Uh...take me to an ATM please! As I'm making change in the bank I call JT to come pick me up because the officer said, "No, you can NOT drive to Three Forks!" Dang! Lol! He then dropped me off at a Perkins and that's where I sat until JT came to pick me up.
At first the officer was pretty stern with me but as we were visiting his demeanor slowly started to soften a little. At one point when we were driving to the ATM, I told the officer, "I think this is the biggest trouble I've ever been in." When he let me out of the back of his patrol car at Perkins I shook his hand and thanked him for being helpful through all this. But what I really wanted to do was snatch my driver's license out of his hand and run!
I was really bummed out but I was ok because JT was on his way to come get me. I was VERY thankful I didn't have to go sit in jail, but as I was talking to the officer about my next steps he said that this violation usually comes with a standard two days in jail...so, I'm not off the hook yet.
Other than that I had a great weekend! Lol!
