I don't usually ask for a lot of help but here we go.

I haven't dieted or cut in almost 2 yrs..Been hanging around the same weight eating just about what I want when I want...I have been on a sloppy bulk for about 6 weeks.I've gone from 241 to 252 in this time and I'm 56 yrs old and a little over 6' tall....Probably added a little fat between the bulk and the past 2 yrs..

Anyways my last to cut I have tried the following..Dave Palumbo's no carbs...This resulted in losing fat but I got weak as hell..which resulted in a lot of muscle loss..

Then I tried a calorie diet where I took in 3500 calories a day..I took in 500 g of protein, 400 g low gly carbs and about 45 grams of fat..Now I kept some strength but lost at a 60 / 40% fat to muscle..Hell this is unexceptable to me.. I went from 270 lbs to 221 lbs but every 10 lbs I dropped If I remember I would only drop about 2-3% B/F

I will be starting another cut Nov 1st and will also be using 1 gram of test..I just came off a cycle 15 days ago but want to keep my calories up until i start the cut because I will be off gear for now..

Anyone have a diet where you lose at maybe 80 / 20 % fat to muscle or a idea that might work..I was doing about 1 hr of cardio a day last time..I will also be using T-3 and a little clen for the cut..I'll guess right now I'm about 18% B/F

At your age I would not go off gear, I would take 100mg per week, (50mg X 2 per week) if you have no problem with you thyroid, than is no need of T-3.

The way you eat and trian is important, 1g of test is to much.
 
Being roughly the same age as you
but no where near as big, I can't help but
wonder what your blood pressure
will look like with all that test running
through your veins. Not to mention
the effect of the "cycle" you just ran
(what ever that was).

That was a lot of protein but I have no
idea what cocktail you were on, if any,
but you must be bullet proof. Great
if you are.

My personal experience with diet has
been; I was my leanest, and close to
my strongest (for a while) when on a
very high carbo, low fat diet, with some
protein thrown in now and again. On this
food plan, I could and did eat all I wanted
and I still lost fat and my strength did not
suffer. And I did zero cardio. But we are
all different.

If I had to do it all over again, I would not
go as high on the carbo's but still keep the
fat low and up the protein (but no where near
500g), but that's just me, from one old man
to another.

Though I do a bunch of cardio now, some
might say too much, I have never used it,
nor do I now, as a tool to control my body
fat.

Nothing personal, but like Emeric said,
1g of test a week is a ton. Would be
interesting to see what you blood looks like.

But hey, that's what makes horse racing . . .
everybody likes something different.

Believe this or not never had and issue with HBP or cholestrol..Just came off 1.5 grams of test 2 weeks ago and was on for 8 weeks..B/P 116 / 72 and total cholestrol was 147 with hdl 39,,got these numbers yesterday..I have blood work done every 10 weeks religiously.
 
i know an old fart that ran a gram up to the age of 62 and never had one single reading off on his blood work......

not recommending or anything but everyone is an individual and responds differently.

Edge the only problem I ran into was I couldn't sleep..So I talked my doctor into writing me a scrip for Abien 5mgs..I get 15 of them..First night i take recommended dosage of 5mgs..Still didn't sleep..Next 2 nights took maximum dosage of 10 mgs and it got me to sleep but woke up 2 hrs later and that was it..Same for the next night..so I took a total of 5 of those abiens but to no-avail..Now that I'm off gear back to my old pattern of getting a total of about 4 hrs a night. Been that way for over 10 yrs.

I'm about 250lbs @14-15% bodyfat at the moment. I usually stay much leaner. But I've been out of the gym for about 3 months.

I would truly like to see what your version of a Palumbo diet looks like. I can't even imagine needing to go to that extreme until you are under 10%.

Meal 2 8oz chicken with 1/2 cup raw almonds
Meal 3 50g whey with 2 tablespoons all natural peanut butter
Meal 4 8oz salmon with 1 cup asparagus with 1 tablespoon macadamia nut oil
Meal 5 50 g whey with 2 tablespoon PB
Meal 6 6 whole Omega-3 eggs

I have notice this is the only site that goes crazy if anyone uses over 500 mgs a week..Wonder how many people on this board have eaten asprin like candy (you all know who you are) for some form of ache when it says maximum dosage, take two..Wow extreme overkill....Here's a question back to you...Besides HRT If one is not competing, why is one using anabolics at all whether it be 500 mgs of test or 10 grams?

Anyways b-boy the question was on diet and how to preserve as much LBM as possible when cutting, not my dosage of Test.

ok then i will play :) since this is professionalmuscle!!!

first off with this diet you have better be doing short intense H.I.T. type workouts cause if your doing any volume type training then you would be better off switching to a carb rotation diet. second you had better be doing low intensity cardio with this diet too and i mean LOW intensity.

so when you figured this diet you figured it at protein = 1-1.5grams per lb/bw and fats at .5grams per lb/bw right?

and last but not least if i was running a gram of test i wouldn't be worried about loosing much muscle bro....:cool:

Protein intake is what preserves muscle mass while dieting. you want to lose less muscle, or even gain muscle, you need to increase your protein portions.

dave palumbo's diet is fucking retarded. pardon my french. whats the point of all that dietary fat? it only slows down the fat loss process. your not going to gain muscle while dieting because youve eaten some peanut butter with your protein. thats not how it works. instead of eating that peanut butter, pop a handful of fish oil, and burn body fat instead of dietary fat.


if your going to run t3+clen+test... id say a good diet is just stick to meat and veggies only.... drink some carbs during your workout to preserve muscle while you lift (without carbs while running t3 if your lifting youll eat muscle)... but during the day.. just eat a ton of lean meat and veggies. you wont be able to overeat on meat protein while running t3. let alone t3+clen+test.

I see your frustration. Nothing wrong with this food list. So if I'm understanding you right, on this food list, you feel like you are losing muscle? That part I'm not convinced of. You may be losing muscle turgidity. But I can't imagine that there would be any honest atrophy.

You may be one of those guys that simply needs to cycle your carb calories. In any case, your age, your size and your accounts of using this diet poses an interesting puzzle.

I'm sure there are better ways to do it. But for myself, I get pretty lean on a high fat diet. When I want to get lean I keep my fat calories up around 50% of my total. Of course, when I say lean, I'm only talking about 8-10% bodyfat. So it's all relative.

I'll chime in uninvited. Let's start with this - How much protein do you think a 56 year old can process in a day? ....even on 1.5g of test a week?

First hint: What's the average size difference in a typical line up between the Open and 50+ in the heaviest classes?

So you think if you just eat as much protein and veggies and take t3j, clen and test that it will get him to his goal without any negative effects. Doesn't matter about total calories or proper macro's? Just as long as he takes t3, clen and test he will be fine? Its vague and bad advice.

I can tell you from doing something similar along time ago thats the quickest way to lose muscle, overtrain and halt your fat loss quickly.

This is total crap. About the only thing you got right is saying protein will help spare muscle......................after that you lost it!

I have to back what main said...................STOP GIVING ADVICE!!
