Kinda clickbait title but interesting neveretheless:

 
Vitamin D is so important AND over looked. Not all supps are equal either. Many pressed tabs get ZERO absorption, zero change in labs. If I hear one more person say "I get enough sun exposure, I don`t need Vitamin D", I`m gonna throw up. Everyone should test for it.

You’re too new to pretend you don’t get what he’s saying.

On Vitamin D- most people don’t get enough sunlight, but even if you do you can’t “synthesize” what’s not there.

People also blindly take too much sometimes. Just go off bloodwork and you’ll be much healthier for it like most things IMO.
 
Sun exposer is not enough on most people. I was taking daily vitamin d supps and my labs was deficient then got prescribes 5000mg one pill per week and my numbers are normal now.
I agree most are deficient and not knowing it.
 
Good find, knew it was important but didn't know if could help with p ratio. What dosages are people taking? I believe my pills are 1k and I take 2 ...with a fatty meal if possible. Is there any potential toxicity if we take too much?

First off great thread. I was one of those that never worried about vitamin d3 even though I took a fist full of supplements but somehow missed d3. In the early 2000s I used to get a month long bronchial "infection " in the spring every year. I have the normal allergies so that may have triggered it.
Most annoying shit ever low grade fever phlegm walking around doped up on antihistamines and Sudafed. Training and diet really suffered. In 2005 was chatting with skip and Dante and he mentioned how important it was especially for the immune system citing a study with a cardiologist in which the doctor gave his patients d3 at one of the largest heart centers in the USA and the flu ravaged through the hospital. Every patient got sick except the ones on d3. I started taking it and felt like a fog lifted and have not been sick since. It's liquid gold.

Don't take them on an empty stomach. Especially d3 and E they need fat to help absorption. I take mine with omega 3s after breakfast and at dinner. Take the oil based capsules and not the tabs.
 
I used to spend an hour+ a day outside, was darkly that half the year and took 1400 i.u's a day and my Vit d levels were in the bottom 10% of the range. Which is not the healthy place to be.
As a side note studies i have seen show people that sun bath tend to live longer then average. I guess healthy vit D levels out weigh the slight chance of skin cancer. But there may be other studies i haven't seen.

Anyone know if too much vitamin d can cause an issue?

It's likely the fact I supplement the same amount year round and the 100 result was during the cold months and the over 150 result was during peak summer time. Just not sure if I should lower the dose maybe during summer or just keep it consistent year round.

Yes, a tad bit rare to accumulate too much, although very much can happen.

You can look into hypervitaminosis D.

Had no idea that vitamin D could affect leptin prior to the article.

The only thing I don't see is dosages in the study. Would a standard multi vitamin theoretically be enough to suffice, or are we talking about a more concentrated dosage to really get the full benefit?

Start by testing storage and active D levels on your bloodwork. Generally 2000-5000iu will be enough to bring the average person with a good diet into range.

The only time I personally push higher is acute immune cases or if bloodwork indicates it. In terms of taking too much I agree with @Stewie, but just remember it is a fat soluble vitamin so more is not always better.

Appreciate you man. Going to look into incorporating some into my stack, but yeah I'll probably start with bloodwork first. That would make a lot of sense
