Infection from Inject

I'm pretty sure i have an infection in my quad from an injection of test suspension 3 days ago. I used a sterile syringe and cleaned the site, however my quad is swollen, red, and warm to the touch. Now i have augmentin(875mg 2x day) on hand because i had a previous surgery and didn't use it. Would this suffice or should i get it checked out at the ER?

Go to your doctor tomorrow morning and get it checked out. They will most likely give you some anti-biotic. I had a infection on my quad on 3rd injection and it took about 10 days for the swelling to go down and another 5 days before I could do a leg workout. And after its down, don't shoot in that area for at least a month. Infection is serious stuff but easily treatable. You could also go to Walgreen/CVS if you don't want to go to your regular doctor. This is what I did since my regular doc is also a family friend. I just told them I probably cut myself doing some yard work - they don't really ask. Take care.

edit - just read about your augmentin - on quad, you most likely have a cellulitis so it might be different.

Sounds like it could just be a bad reaction. Maybe caused by the ba in the gear. I would give it a few more days and see if it gets better. If I'm not mistaken, an infection will begin to show at the injection location.

I wouldn't take the augmentin. Do you have a fever? I have been in your present situation many times before and every time it has just been a local reaction to the gear and eventually cleared up. Sometimes it was very noticiable and painful. And sometimes took weeks of limping. But I never had a fever. But my 100% rate of never having an infection does not mean you will be as lucky as I. Your blood may be harboring an infection as I write this and by tomorrow morning you may be in septic shock with all your vital organs shutting down. And by this time tomorrow you will be room temperature. So ya never know.

What helped more than anything else for me was taking aleve and applying a cortico-steroid (Desoximetasone) cream. And maybe a topical anestetic.

So it's up to you. No fever, I rode it out. Fever - I would have gone straight to the doctor. And then lied about the origin of the lump.

sounds like a small infection. ive had it too way too many times. if you dont want to hit the doc you can just try to get some natural herbs for infections. go to one of those nutrition stores. not the gnc type places but one of those mom and pop style nutrition and health food stores. they can help you find some good stuff.

It depend, it usually does but it could move in down direction. I've just had it - shot upper quad but infection was very prominent near the knee.

By the way, mild irritation could also have slight swelling and heat. You'll know if you have infection after few days.

my qaud is slightly swollen. but i can barely walk up the stairs. there is also barely any redness yet the pain is the worst i have ever felt in my life.

this is going on for 4 days now and not changing time to see the doc? what should i tell him and what antibiotics should i expect.

i ended up seeing the doc this morning. 75 percent of the pain is gone after 4 days, but i was more concerned with how red and warm to the touch the area was. they prescribed me bactrim for 10 days and said it should be fine.

i have been prescribed levaquin. it says that it may increase increase the chance of tendon ruptures. Can this happen with just a 10 day course of the stuff.?

best advice to go to doctor.

I've personally rode out minor infections. Its happened two times with two different batches of gear (test p and test E). It got really red/inflamed and then my body temperature soared very high (like very hot to the touch, dripping with sweat at night). It passed both times in ~2 days. Not pleasant but I do not have insurance.

You can bake gear if its giving repeat problems.

I don't know where you are from but (in US) certain CVS/Walgreen have a emergency care and it cost me $75 for consultation plus $38 for anti-biotic. I think its worth it.

I've had 2,,, I've used amoxicillan 500mg taken every 6 hrs. The infection will dissapate in 3 days and be gone in 7!
