Jay Cutlers workout for his first 2 years of training

JAY CUTLERS GIANT STEPS TO MASS

Says he used this workout in a 2 days on 2 days off schedule,
everything was done for 3 sets with the first being what he calls a "feel" set but just 2 primary sets per exercise.

Workout 1)
Squats
Leg presses
Flat Bench presses or Incline presses
Incline flyes
lying tricep extensions or close grip presses

Workout 2)
Rack lifts
Barbell rows or dumbell rows
Shoulder presses (flipped flopped back and forth between barbells and dumbells)
Curls (flipped flopped back and forth between barbells and dumbells)
Hanging leg raises
 
Just curious - where did this info come from?

Pretty basic low-volume routine with some heavy lifts - seems like a sensible approach...
 
Flex Aug. 99... I thought it looked like a good plan so I thought I would throw it out there for all to have a look at and I know that Jay aquired pro size in 2 years of training.

sounds ok to me but flex is not a credible source

I remember that article too.
How many reps ? I think it was 6 - 8.

I don't trust Flex

but this routine doesnt look bad
 
Flex sucks!

Most here would agree that with his genetics any routine would work for a while as long as the intensity was sufficient.
 
In Jay cutlers book CEO muscle ,Jay says he trained on an advanced routine from day 1 ie 4 way split and multi exercise angles.Just like he does today.

yeah, im pretty sure its not his routine. i saw him in the gym a few times long before he was pro and he was doing a lot of volume. and i think he said he was doing 2 a day splits after the 1st year.
flex isnt a good source. :( email jay. he will answer you. just ask him. sometimes takes a while but he will get back to you especialy now he is mr o.
