It may be a weird question, but maybe someone could help with a documented answer.
I am using synthepure as my choice of whey protein. I am very satisfied with the quality. As I know this product has a purity of 96% of protein. I am curious to know which other brands have the procentage as high or closer to the product I use now? Because I was unable to find one that match this one!
That is an incredible protein percentage and in all my search Ive only found one protein that can get that high (Ion exchange, Isopure).....most good isolates fall into the 90-93% category.
And trust me there are an incredible amount of unscrupolous protein powder companies out there that absolutely f*ck you guys over. Do you know why almost every protein powder out there doesnt list the percentages of the different proteins on the label? Because
they dont have to and they dont want to tell you. So when you think your getting that awesome deal of 100% whey and you see
"a mix of hydrolyzed, isolates and concentrate!" on the description, you are probaly thinking "oh great equal parts" and do you know what it very likely could be?
90% concentrate, 5% isolate and 5% hydrolyzed.
Concentrate is very cost freindly, usually half the price of a good isolate. So a 90 concentrate and 5 parts hydro and isolate makes a killing for a protein company in profit margin.
A company approached us a couple years ago with a 99 cents a pound whey protein concentrate. My business partner and I tested it and it came back as absolute sawdust. I believe the protein percentage was 58% which is ridiculous. A good quality WPC is 78- 83%.....we told that company to go take a hike obviously. Next thing I know I look online and see two VERY WELL KNOWN protein companies selling that exact WPC (in bulk in the same packaging we saw!) And people are all over the boards raving about the price and savings..... besides being on the toilet a good part of the day and the bloating and gas that would probaly go with that low quality WPC you now have to use 3 scoops to equal 2 scoops of a quality WPC.
In that case
Quality WPC=8 servings to a pound
Low Quality WPC = 5 servings to a pound
so much for saving yourself a buck
stick with the synthepure your using....with that protein percentage....thats a stellar protein your using. (and that recommendation comes from someone who runs a custom manufacturing and protein company)
