anyone get it?

looking for feedback

I did. Have an astigmatism as well.

It worked really well for a few years, then I feel my vision slightly regressed a little bit, which is normal I suppose.

It’s still better than where it was, so it’s worth it in that sense, but I do still have to wear glasses if on the computer for prolonged periods or I get eye strain and headaches.

I thought I would be able to ditch the glasses for longer after having it done so I was a little disappointed there. Maybe my expectations were too high. Vision Is still better than before I had it done though, and you can always do follow up corrections, although I’m hesitant to constantly have lasers shape my eye. Don’t really want to play with my vision too much. Might have a touch up procedure done like 5-10 years from now when I feel I need it more

The recovery wasn’t too bad either. Wasn’t painful, but after the procedure and for a couple days after I remember feeling like someone poured sand in my eyes and just left it there.

Not painful just irritating

how bad was your astigmatism?

how bad was your astigmatism?
Uhm I don’t remember the metric they assigned to it, but bad enough that if I would drive in the evening or at night I’d see streaks of light from traffic lights and headlights of other cars.

I had PRK, which is a better option if you are still doing things like combat sports where there can be impact to the eye. They downplay and foo foo you for being concerned about the lasik flap coming loose, but it is a very real thing that I've seen happen in person.

That being said, it is much easier to do follow up corrections on someone who had lasik.

My regression after 20 years is slight, just a little bit of astigmatism. I didn't really have much at the time of the initial correction.

did you guys experience any sort of distortion/disorientation issues before you got your procedure? sometimes low key feel like im walking in a bouncy house.. not really, but sort of.

my glasses are pretty far out of date.. don't really feel like dropping the cash for a new Rx if i can just get the surgery

don't really get this bizzarre loopy sensation when im not wearing my glasses, but then my vision is blurry lol

Never experienced this personally. An out of date rx could do this depending on how out of date it is—as our vision changes over time

I looked into it a few years ago, but was told I was not a candidate.

My eyesight has actually improved as I have gotten older, so that could be why your current rx isn’t clear.

Had lasik around 2016. Had mild astigmatism and that fixed it. Some regression on vision over years (many clinics do free touch ups) but let's say 90-95% improvement remains. Astigmatism didn't come back.

I have done it and didn't work it. After one year doctor said that it needs to be done again but no thanks
For me was useless. Maybe I'm a rare case as for many worked out

I had it done in 2006. My astigmatism was pretty bad, I don't recall the #'s pre but post surgery my vision had improved to 20/15 & 20/20.
This was almost 20 years ago and it costs $3600 for both eyes at that time. Prior to the surgery I used glasses and had tried these contact lenses that were specifically made for astigmatism but they caused by eyes severe irritation/redness. I'm 56 today. The astigmatism never came back but my eyes have aged to where I need readers (1.5) now when on the computer, reading labels etc. My distance vision is still great down range ;)

I was fairly myopic at -3 and -2.75 rx before the surgery. The astigmatism was really only an afterthought. Honestly never felt the need for glasses again until I got back into shooting and the rmr dots looked like comets, lol.

Oh, what they say about green dots or circles always being better for astigmatism to total cut and paste crap web science. I see the 6 moa red dot much better than all that green crap or different shapes. It has more to do with the glass quality that the fricken reticle (sorry, ranting).

I have Romeo 7 red dot and love it. Don’t get any problems with light refraction

Before the lasik my aimpoint micro looked like a small comet. Not horrible as astigmatism was minor. Better now for sure.

I never noticed much difference with eotech (circle and dot) and had limited experience with from memory a green trijicon. Maybe my astigmatism was too minor but I'm in your camp based on personal experience.

I think much of the blur is when the sight has to be too bright. A circle reticle or 4-6 MOA dot on nice clear glass can be run at a lower setting and not bloom.

Think about the astigmatism issues when driving at night. It is the worst when you have car lights coming at you that are too bright and when your windshield is dirty. Same goes for a pistol sight.
