Hey guys (and all interested reading parties) I've been using the higher reps for a couple months now after getting some advice you from guys. I can honestly and gladly report that they are an absolute success. I don't have to do nearly as many sets, about 4-8 sets per muscle group when worked once per week, and I'm even able to take some of the sets ot failure without overtraining and feeling like Im frying the CNS. I keep the reps in the 10-20 range, and just keep on trying to increase the weights. I'm currently trying to get my 225 lb benches up to the 20 range. And my joints feel AMAZINGLY BETTER!!!! I never would have believed that I could get stronger doing higher reps in my entire life, but I'm here to tell you it's working out great. I'm putting on muscle and I'm charged up for every work out.

I just wanted to thank you guys for setting my mind at ease about switching up the reps! Thanks!!!

I am a firm believer in low-volume training but for legs I believe in higher reps. I can't get that pumped feeling w/ low reps for legs!

I received the same advice/tongue lashing from LATS after I told him i was doing low rep heavy weight for legs. Actually he said I was a "f'n idiot" Ohh the love. I have been doing high reps for legs for two months and can honestly say I am getting much stronger. Thanks LATS and TH

I AM GLAD YOUR JOINTS ARE FEELING BETTER!

CAUSE THAT CAN BE A REAL BITCH! I GET TRAINING HEAVY LOW REP TO OFTEN AND IT FEELS LIKE I CAN'T DO ANYTHING BUT HEAD TO THE "OLD LIFTERS HOME". ;)

will harris says he always train with high reps,this month flex he says 15-30 reps is were he grows the best and it keeps him injury free.i also remember a article by douglas christ who says reps should be 12-30 fro the best muscle growth.

i have over the years noticed that moderate to high reps are definately better for size gains, though i do think its a good idea to throw some sets in the 5-6 rep range to get a feel for better reps...

for me...8-10 on most comp0ound exercises...and one a month or so...sets with 15 or so...

biggest mistkae of my training career was training with sets of 6 or less on a very regular basis...no matter how good your form it will eventually ruin your joints if done all the time!
 
I like doing 1 heavy low volume set to moderate failure, and then just train for the pump with 2-3 more excerises in the 12-15 rep range. I can do about 4 weeks of this with 5 workout days a week, then I feel overtrained. I take one week off and then 3 weeks with HIT and start over again. For most of the time I do dbol or adrol in the volume weeks.
