LEVRONE'S TRAINING...

I read in many different places all over the net that Kevin would train a bodypart heavy and hard in the AM, then AGAIN (same bodypart) in the PM lighter higher reps and more isolation movements. Any truth to this?
 
Levrone did the Push/Pull split:

Chest/Shoulder/Tris
Back/Bis
Legs

...like Ronnie. However, based on what Lats and alot of other posted, seems like he focused mainly on the primary muscles (chest, back) and all the secondary muscles (shoulders,bis,tris) just grew! True genetics huh? But i guess if you're benching 550 and deadlifting 600, you're gonna have big shoulders and arms regardless.

Just maybe he had freaky delts and arms BECAUSE he didn't overtrain them. Just maybe!!
 
i just read this board and don't post, but i might as well set some stuff straight since i've seen levrone train.

kevin roughly followed a five-six day split with one to two days off. this split was somewhat periodized. he had 2 chest days. he worked delts on the second of these days, if at all. triceps were something he did after any pressing workout, and he never did that much in the way of volume. I think he rotated the tricep exercises. he worked bis more frequently than tris.

his leg training changed with the hernia thing. at one point he was doing leg curls and extensions all the time. he used to do really heavy walking lunges, but towards the end of his career he mostly seemed to do leg press. he did try to squat alot after the hernia thing, despite whatever the mags said. maybe it just takes longer for the legs to blow up, and that is why they were never huge when he was just training seriously for 8 weeks pre-show.

he would ease into the training. it is not like he would walk into the gym after a three month break and press 405. he would generally start by just messing around with hilariously light weights throughout the day. He did say Lund used real weights in the photo shoots, and it sucked.

at night he usually did cardio and abs. I think he might have split up his training into smaller segments at times (3 times a day). sometimes he would go and train at other gyms, so you never could tell exactly what he was doing.

an interesting dude. he seemed really bi-polar. i don't think it was the juice causing it... i think he just is that way.

nutrition articles in weider's muscle and fitness mag. I spent time in
his gym up there in glen burnie too. the one in the plaza off richie Hi
Ol Kev would pop by every know and then.

Kevin was always a favorite of mine. Especially when he got ripped off his sandow. :D In my mind he won the 'O that year.

One truly sad thing though is how when he started trying to do the action-movie thing, Arnold was only there to shoot him down.

I wonder what he's up to these days.

LATS: thanks for the info on Delts it's because of you and the other mods here that this board is a leader in information and advice on the net today.
As far as his Delt development, I think its like Yates' Calves. No matter what training he did or didnt do, that muscle would be huge. In a word ...Genetics.

Quarterfield rd. Todd called me a few times trying to get me
to join the one he ran off benfield rd. Then I heard it turned into a
bootcamp thing.:rolleyes: I guess that's about the time they sold the

Damn I just pulled up Swinney's site and my jaw just dropped. Now I
don't feel so bad about my grey hair. I haven't seen him in over ten years
Boy he has done alot since then. Him and Levroni were buddies
I gota give him a call one day

the one on benfield is a boxing/weight training gym

quarterfield road has all of Levrone's old equipment

all the golds are getting rid of the heavy iron and turning more healthclub.

the only real hardcore gym left is Australian Fitness
 
That's the shit I'm going through now A F...kin Health Club.
dumbbells only go up to 80lbs. Row machine 200. Same with
pulldowns 200. Small weight room, and some of the people
there spend more time socializing then working out. Damn
yuppies stand around the equipment bullshitting about the
stockmarket. I finally told a couple of them either shit or get
off the pot the other day. I'm not there to make friends or
pick up young girls. I like to get in and get the F out.
 
stevo must be at quest. hehehhe
 
I always liked Levrone's physique, but seeing him like this just trips me out.
