M 16 year old buddy that I trained with with talked into competing. I was in the age 13-17 age class. He told me not to drink any water for 3 days, just have an ice cube here and there...hahaha...man was that stupid...He got 3rd out of 4 at the show, and I got last, 4th out of 4.

How long had you been training before then? And what was your duet and training program like?
I started training around 12 years old. My training was utterly retarded. I went to the local magazine shop, and wrote down the routines I saw in there and went home and did them. Often I would do 20 sets a bodypart 3-4 times a week. I didn't know any better. It was 1985, and I watched the Universe (one with Labrada, Ron Love, Phil Williams, etc was in), and the Olympia with Platz, Haney, beckles, Gaspari, etc). I watched the videos all the time, then went into my basement, and did my best to kill myself. Diet was eating anything and everything I could. I got free lunch at school, as I was raised in poverty (why I couldn't buy the magazines), and I also asked all the people sitting at my table to give me their stuff they didnt want. I always had at least 2 full lunches from this...I did save up and on occasion buy those big bags of mega Mass 2000, and mix the powder with ice cream, and eat cherry pie with it. I ate alot to gain weight...crazy huh..

my grandmother raised me and was a cook at a local restaurant, so she brought us home leftovers all the time...we ate what everybody else wouldn't...!

We were likely both doing the same death workouts in our basements at the same time though I think I have a couple years on you. I, too, would watch Berry DeMey and Mike Christian and Phil Willliams (Mendenhall was in there at that time, too) and just dream.

I love it, bro. Good memories. :)

Look good for 13... Looks like you incorporated neck training to your routine. I preferred the back/front stroller for my twins. Easier to get through isles & doors.
