Would like to hear first hand experiences or from people that you know in real life, not shows you've on dateline etc.

Has anyone had dental work or other significant medical procedures overseas?

I always grew thinking everything was better in america, but it seems medical care is comparable or even better in many countries that people don't associate with being super affluent etc.

I have about 11,000 worth of dental work that needs to get done, but I'm considering doing it overseas. It seems that Costa Rica is well known for medical tourism, hard to know what reviews etc are fake or not.

Thanks.

Istanbul, Turkey for hair transplants. That’s the new mecca!

My brother in law went to Istanbul for a hair transplant - turned out flawless. Mother in law did dental work there as well. Went perfectly.

I did stem at BioXcellerator in Medellin and it was a fantastic experience.

I have no inside knowledge, but I have one pair of teeth, I'd fork out the 11k. Insurance isn't covering it? Did you neglect teeth for a while to get to that point?

I'm from Western Europe and almost everyone who wants dental work or hair transplants done goes to Turkey. Prices are way better and from what I've seen it's great quality. A lot of the clinics offer hotel accommodations as well, basically arrange the whole trip in a lot of cases.

I live in Romania. Turkey seems to be a mecca for lots of procedures. Personally I rather do it here with a Dentist I know from the gym. At least I know what to expect.

My paternal grandparents spent a lot of time vacationing in San Carlos, Mexico and subsequently any time one of them needed dental work that's where they'd go. Gramps used to rave about how cheap it was and to my knowledge they always had decent experiences.

11k in teeth repair? first of all i have always noticed these dentist really make alot shit up peoples teeth, i went to a few dentist and they all told me I had cavities in diff spots so clearly there all made up, get more opinions. but if its legit I guess you could go to venezula, everything is like 3 pennies over there right now

I had a knee replacement in Colombia….but by the American government.

If ever I decide to do anything regarding my disappearing hair. I’ll be booking one of them All inclusive clinic stays! Where they set you up at a hotel near their business, drive you too the clinic, then take you on back. All for around $8K, you be double that and more here in the states! Just goes to show how out of control medical care is here in the states.

My Dentist works with a Dental Lab in China, they make the same quality that german labs have, but charge half the price. I'm getting implants, it starts next week, it will all be done first week of January. He said they don't look as aesthetic as the very expensive top of the line products, but from a functional standpoint, they are just as good - and that what counts for me, because paying 2500 € less is a lot of money for me.

That money can be more wisely spent on beef, rice, HGH and gear 😊😁

i forget the cost of things but in perspective its super cheap.
i had a tooth pulled and in usd it would be nothing. implants maybe 100 bucks each. my mom was interested in doing this. private top class dentist too.

Venezuela you may not come back. I think it's still a civil war there. Makes Syria look safe lol.

Yes, and I did have decent insurance but most insurance doesn't cover implants and such...

I need an implant among a few other things, fortunately looks dont matter as its not a part of the mouth that anyone can see other than a dentist.

Medical care and insurance system in america is a scam. Same insulin by the same company often costs 10x more in US.

Yes a couple implants adds up fast.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea about Turkey.

This "hospital" looks like a 5 star hotel, that is what I thought for years going by it on occasion.
My wife had an operation done ( nothing major) and the cost was about $175 US. Most of the doctors are trained/educated in the US, or EU, speak several languages. I have never seen another hospital such high class.
For comparison, years ago an associate of mine needed a quad heart bypass and no insurance. The quote in the states (California) was $250.000 for the operation and hospital, anesthesiologist.
He flew to Bangkok against DR. advise and had the bypass done at this hospital for $25.000 that was all inclusive with 30 recovery in a private room at an associated hotel, with pool, palm trees, 4 star, 24 hour nurse care all food and PT. He is doing great and tells so many about his experience to help those in need.
I have had meds refilled there....quick and easy.
