Need injury advice

Well, today i was doing low incline db presses and I was finishing up my last set and I felt a stretching/crackling sound on the side of my pec, about 1/2" before it meets the shoulder. Well, it is a little sore but can't be a pec tear b/c I hit shoulders and tri's and skipped chest altogether. I think I will go legs and back and then take the week off next week. Maybe it just needs a break. Anyone else ever had this before? Should I take off and heal it on my own or have a PT look at it?

Take it easy for a while and see how it goes, if it keeps bothering you have it looked at.
 
I'd ice the area quite a bit. I'd use naproxen sodium as this used to be a prescription drug - over counter now.

They say that if you damaged the area, it'll bruise. But - I nearly tore a rotator cuff muscle off my shoulder and it didn't.

Most tears

Will produce a lump after a few days in addition to some type of soreness and bruising.
Sometimes I'll get bruising with just a sore spot in the middle. It can last for 10-16 days for me a times. I am almost believing that it could be a ruptured vessel of sorts on me.
 
you could be getting ready to tear that pec if you dont rest it. I have a friend who just tore his pec and it is disgusting. I felt it and there is no longer any pec muscle up by the shoulder area just that tiny string tendon.. Dont push it, you should probally watch it for the next month or so and make sure you dont go tear it..
 
I am definately taking it easy for a bit. It's weird how things just happen that quickly!:eek: Like I said I plan taking next week completely off from training and when I come back doing some machine work to get me started back up. Thanks for the words!
